Sound Upgrade

Hey there,

With the risk of sounding like a complete idiot seeing as I dont know too much about car speakers, I was wanting to ask for some help.
You said that there is a speaker upgrade from Hyundai DE, I was hoping to get something similar although in Australia it seems we don't have the same speakers?

I was looking at a local shop and found speakers that seemed similar although I was wanting to see what your thoughts were.

On the other hand while researching, I was also thinking of just getting a car audio shop to show me their stock and I can pick a set and they can install it for me, as you said earlier since its a new car I wouldn't want to break anything. cant imagine how much the repair would cost if I broke a tiny clip.
If I go this route, is there anything I should be looking out for in the speakers? I plan on adding a sub somewhere in the boot but would everything in the same price range be roughly the same?

A few brands I was told that the shop can supply are:
Focal
MTX
Alpine
Pioneer
Ground Zero - older stock since they arnt in Aus anymore
DB drive

Big fan of Focal and Alpine.
However I got a set of JBL low resistance 6.5" for the rear doors and I'm very, very impressed. More volume from them due to the reduced drive resistance, and still clear and even.
I have a set of Alpines in the front doors and the balance with the JBL's in the rear is great.

Next upgrade will be a sub and components for the back shelf..:cool:

It should be fine... especially as i've fitted them already and don't want to do it again...lol :eek:
 
Does anyone have any experience with the Sound Upgrade package offered on the German Hyundai accessories website? I'm thinking of spending some money on the car for the holidays :p.

Currently in the shopping cart; the boot liner, N-Logos, the N-floor mats, windshield cover for frost and thinking about the sound upgrade. Would also be interested in any experiences with the dashcam they offer, how it is fitted, integrated etc. The dealer here in Estonia doesn't carry any of the items except for the floor mats, so would still have to check if they can handle the installation.

I'm just not very impressed with the stock sound system, even with Carplay, messing with equalizer settings etc. My previous Mazda 6 MPS had a very decent Bose system that spoiled me a bit I guess.
 
I had looked for this thread before opening my own but somehow missed it... I know this entire thread has kinda turned toward home made upgrades, I am still wondering if someone has any experience with the kit offered from the German website?

I don't have the time or equipment to start working on it myself, plus I'd like to keep most stuff done by the dealer as it is on lease (will purchase at the end, it just fits my situation better this way) and don't want to mess anything up while it's not my own property yet :p.

If you use a good audio source and not radio, bluetooth or messed up encoding, the stock speakers are not that bad, when equalised to your liking.
They are not so good at higher volumes and the bass will suffer.
This kit is good but there's still no subwoofer in it, and you could find much better upgrades for the money.
For that money, I bought 4 JBL speakers and a JBL subwoofer. Others have done the same with Alpine speakers, all very decent upgrades.
As for installation, I don't think your local dealership will refuse to install those or any other speakers for you (always within factory specs), it's always good money for them.

It’s not so much about the price. More about peace of mind that it is an OEM kit being put in and not a set of speakers I got myself. I’d like to keep anything I do to it as OEM as possible for now. My previous car was a 12 year old pre-owned Mazda 6 MPS and I obviously didn’t care about doing anything to that myself. But this being brand new, I prefer to stick to OEM for now. Should I have to sell it, it also doesn’t hurt that I can say to a buyer that it has an Hyundai sound upgrade instead of “I put in some new speakers myself”. A perception thing.

There's nothing OEM about that kit, they're normal everyday speakers you can buy off the shelf, see first post in this thread. You'll have peace of mind if your dealership installs it, all you have to do is ask.
 
My dealer here in Australia has said there are no audio packages available :mad: Even the same response from the customer care team :rolleyes: I would have loved to have these upgrade done pre-delivery...

Time to show them your links I think!

Search for i30 PD Audio upgrade and you will have tons of results. So easily buy it in Australia and fit it yourself / let it fit by your dealer :)
