My i20N

I'm with you Zealot. We need Courtney affiliates in Aus. I'm in SEQ.
I’m not very informed regarding the Australian tuning scene but I know the i20N owners scene is very active and enthusiastic. So I’m surprised there isn’t already somebody offering similar tuning solutions. In the U.K. and E.U. I see a number of companies offering turbos but they are engineering companies and don’t offer the necessary ECU tuning. I wonder how a car would behave if it just had a turbo upgrade but without the ECU increasing the boost and adjusting the air and fuel I don’t suppose it would do very much?

Observing the behaviour of the Ecu and having data concerning the parallel box of Dtuk, i would say that a hybrid turbo with a Dtuk box will perform very very nicely. Why do i say that? Because the stock afr of the car is among 12.1 - 12.5 on full throttle while with a Dtuk box is 10.9-11.1. That mean with a Dtuk box and a Hybrid turbo, we would have the additional boost of the tuning box + and a leaner afr of almost 12.5 on full throttle, due to different turbine structure. If i take into account the "smart" mechanism of the Stock Ecu , i can say that the DTUK tuning box with a hybrid turbo could work pretty nicely!!!
Racechip tuning box is much leaner, around stock a/f values, (12,2-12,5), so a racechip tuning box wont do much with a hybrid turbo. But thats my 0.2 cents

Well that’s extremely interesting and not something I had considered! Will you be able to try it?

I think you would like the Goodyears - quieter, nicer ride, better grip in damp and cold conditions. The only negative is the initial turn in isn’t quite as sharp/aggressive but the stock tyres excel in that respect.
when you had the 225s on the standard wheels did you have any problem with the fitters putting 225 on ? I have ordered four new tyres to be fitted today I ordered Bridgestone Potenza Sport based on the fact that they won the 2025 Evo tyre test the price was really good too £102 each with Black Friday savings

we have tested the above combo extensively and we had poor results!! Although potenza sports have very good feedback from differrent drivers and global test, i20n didnt like them at all. The car was spinning all the time, at turns we had understeer and even the brakes were worst than the original. We were very sceptical because in theory the 225 is wider than 215, so it should improove braking distances and grip. But results and measurements prooved us wrong, even in Greece where we have hot climate and rarely temp drops below 10!!! If i were you for 225/40/18 which is less pricey, i would try the continental sc 7.

Thanks is that with the latest compound because apparently it has changed this year ?

No, there was no issue with fitting them (though I didn’t do it personally). However, some tyres have much stiffer side walls than others and so I can’t speak regarding your tyres specifically.

Apologies for continuing the tyre chat!
We could probably do without (yet another) tyre debate on this thread but as we are here......
I was planning to get the 225 size Bridgestones as a result of the recent Evo mag test.
I do not need new tyres for a few months yet.
Please please let us all know how you get on with them.

The only warning regarding Kwik-Fit and also Costco, is that I have read a report of both refusing to fit non-standard width tyres because they were not the manufacturers specified width. Now this sounds ridiculous to me but that’s what I read. Having said that, when I had my front tyres renewed for another pair of Goodyears it was at my local Hyundai dealer and they didn’t even mention that they were 225 width!

I doubt the local dealer notices much about anything haha.
My local dealer in Upminster, Essex has just closed down but I am moving house soon so I will find another I am sure.
Back to tyres......All tyre chats seem to end up this way (and I have read a lot of tyre chats on this forum).
Someone loves a particular tyre and someone else hates them.
My mind was made up to get the Bridgestone because I totally trust the Evo mag testing.
It is all on you Snapper. No pressure. You have the casting vote haha. Amazing price BTW.
If you don't like them I will go for the Contis as they seem very well liked for our car.

Just had mine fitted at Kwik Fit Glossop never questioned it but my wife did !! The manager said he would fit 225 if the car was his. Only drove home but definitely not as harsh a ride

I can confirm, ordered 225 Goodyear f1's from Costco when they had a sale, had to wait 3 weeks for them to be delivered, i took the car in and 5 mins later they called me to say that they wont fit them due to different size. So i left with the tires and had them fitted somewhere else.
