I’m home - all done and running well. The only problem was the shocking weather and driving rain that persisted all day so I really haven’t had a chance to explore the performance. What I can show is the dyno results of my previous stage 2 tune and the new turbo and stage 3 tune:

The blue line is my previous CS stage 2 tune and a very respectable 255 bhp. The red line is the new turbo and tune and the final result is 298 bhp. Do you think we can call this 300 or is that too much of a reach?

I‘m now hoping for better weather so I can thrash this little beastie and stretch its legs a little 👍🤗.

Mate, at least you have the weather - it’s incredibly grim here with constant lashing rain! It’s the very definition of the wrong time to be driving an overpowered ‘hot hatch’ 😖😂.

Regarding the tuning scene is Aus I’m really surprised there aren’t more options as the car scene seems super healthy down there and the Facebook forums are some of the busiest - of course it does help that you can still buy them there! I suppose the huge distances don’t help as this isn’t the kind of mod that can be done by post or remotely.

It's actually not that great here right now. We're getting thunder storms in the afternoon and evening which buggers up the roads the following morning for the early morning blats (read: free of law enforcement) that I prefer.

I’ve got a two hour drive today and the weather is, once again, rubbish! I don’t think the engine has even been to 5K revs yet since the turbo rebuild - probably not today either.

Well the weather did clear up a bit on the last half of my journey and I was able to stretch the car a bit. Unsurprisingly, this car is now extremely quick! But I haven’t had a chance to try it on the twisty roads yet and that will be more of a true test. One other thing, there is now quite a lot more turbo noise and you can clearly hear it spooling up.

Today dawned bright, clear and, most importantly, dry! So I drove the two hour journey back from Chester to Sheffield - the first half was largely motorway and the second half was tight twisty mountain roads (the Snake Pass). This was my first chance to really open up the car since it’s turbo rebuild and I wasn’t disappointed. Unsurprisingly the car drove much as the dyno results suggest - essentially the same as before but with greater headroom and it pulls strongly from low revs to the maximum 7K with no sense of tail off at all. The bottom line is that it’s blisteringly quick - but the chassis seems more than capable of handling the power and the car still feels glued to the road in a most reassuring manner 😝.

And so, putting aside cosmetic body mods, there really isn’t anything left to do to my car….. except, coilovers…….

I’m on my second set of Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 (225 width) and find them a good overall compromise. I know you are on the stock wheels and I’m pretty sure these tyres are not available in the stock size so I don’t know if it would matter if the front and rear tyres where slightly different widths. I do know the 225 width F1’s fit on the standard rims no problem because that’s how I first had them fitted.

Was going to go go to 225s this time and debating about changing all four
I think you would like the Goodyears - quieter, nicer ride, better grip in damp and cold conditions. The only negative is the initial turn in isn’t quite as sharp/aggressive but the stock tyres excel in that respect.

In honour of the fact my car no longer produces 255 bhp I’ve redone the rear boot and window stickers. Now I’ve also applied a bit of poetic licence and made them read 300 despite the fact the actual dyno results state 298 bhp. But I thought 2 bhp was such a minor amount it didn’t really matter and if you quote the power in PS it’s actually 302 so you could argue 300 is a happy median - don’t hate me for this exaggeration of the facts 😆.

Oh, I’ve also revised the fender badge and re done it in a previous style with a few minor adjustments. The most obvious is that the outer colour is now a dark metalic grey rather than the previous black and, so far, I’m really liking this combo.
