Winter Wheels & Tyres

I don't know if anything needs has said but in the UK, RX8 alloys can be got for relatively cheap. They also have the same stud pattern and center bore so go straight on. Et is fine as well. They don't look great but they will do. Fitted with 225/45/18 Achilles w101x winter tyres. Can say the sidewall is defo softer than the pirellis and its noticable after driving round on them but the wet weather performance in comparison is mind blowing. No more wheel spin in 3-4th gear on any corner if trying to push it. It grips! Also miles more comfy on 18's and these tyres

Anyone else in the UK thinking of switching back to summer wheels/tyres?
Temperature for next 3 weeks is into double figures! Then again, the UK weather prediction is more miss than hit - at worst it means I spend another hour putting the winters back on...

Hardly had a winter so far this year. Bit of snow couple of weeks ago and that was about it.

I went for All Seasons in the end, so will leave them on for a while longer.

Most likely until mid-April as I'll be on a course in Gloucester for a couple of weeks up until then.
 
Can anyone say which is the cheapest wheel/tire combination in terms of size that will clear the performance brakes? Anyone know if 17"s will fit? I'd usually mount winter tires onto the factory 19" rims but prices for 235 40 19 winter tires are an absolute nightmare... especially regarding the tire-munching ~400nm on the front axle.
 
I'd highly doubt you'd get 17s to fit. Some 18s don't fit over the caliper.

You can get winter tyres fitted for less than £500 on the 19s.
 
At least in Germany most premium winter tyres are more like 650-750 GBP (180+ € per corner) a set. Personally I'm ok with smaller wheels but "cheap" china tyres are not for me.

Honestly I would go for 18inchers I got some German ones with full ABE (meaning they are tested on the vehicle) and they cost roughly 100 EUR per rim. I think the real cost is the tire, not the rim and the difference in price between those 2 sizes is ridiculous. What does count though is the tighter the rim, the more dust buildup around the brakes resulting in all kinds of noisy braking (chafing sounds galore, even with my 18 inch winter wheels).

I'm thinking of getting some winter alloys as I already have some 225 40 18 Yoko winter tyres from my previous car, will these alloys be okay to put on the N? I have the performance pack so bigger brakes but I've seen people run 18 inch wheels as the non performance pack car has them so everything seems okay, just need some clarification

I’m running 7.5x18 ET49.5 Hyundai alloys and 225/40E18 tires in winter. Bought them together with the car and they fit just fine.
 
Hey guys,
I don't have a winter set so I'm looking into buying new alloys + tires. I found 2 offers :), Autec Delano 8J ET42 R18 or Alutec Monstr 7.5J ET40 R18, both on silver color. These 2 models are at a good price of around 400 EURO, new. OEM wheels are expensive and I'm not sure if the price really reflects into better quality.

What do you think will fit best? I really like Autec Delano, they are simple but good looking. What's your opinion regarding the fitment?

EDIT: Also, should I buy separate TMPS or can I switch them from the summer wheels?
 
Better have seperate TPMS sensors for all your wheels (i.e. one set of sensors permanently in the summer wheels and the same for your winter wheels). If you dont intend to use your current summer wheels any further, you can switch them over but may need new seals between rim and sensor, at least thats what my workshop told me when i switched from oem wheels to new summer wheels.
 
I don’t have experience with any of these brands, however I like the alutec more. Fitment will be almost the same and both will poke our way more than the stock wheels, however you can check it here: www.willtheyfit.com
 
@GazmaN Yeah, I understand your point of view but my perception for full black wheels is that you can't see the design that well and also the wheel looks smaller.

I found another nice model from Rial, Lucca and I think this will be the final choice, they kinda look like OEM Magnit alloys.
 
Fair enough, all comes down to the individual at the end of the day :). Just checked out the Luccas of which you speak, they don't look bad at all mate. Just make sure you post pics once you've got them so we can all see what they look like on an N. You are braver than I: so many options these days I just can't seem to make a decision on anything, have anxiety attacks and stick with stock :D.
