@Bu11eT thank you! I lost the will to live trying to do it on my phone!

Yeah, all covered in the forum. The noise after stopping sounds like metal expanding/contracting and is more than likely the exhaust system. Don’t notice it anymore.

Change your front tyres (100% success with Goodyear F1’s, but other tyres have shown same results) and that’ll eliminate your noise when turning the wheel.

The slow startup is odd. It does seem to be present, even after people on here (including myself) have had ECU’s changed, software updated etc but I must admit, it’s happened probably twice for me in the past 3 months and that’s during some seriously cold mornings.

The gearing issue - not sure what to think about this. My 6th gear has always been slightly notchy and on occasion, needs an extra little push. But I’ve honestly never considered it worthy of a call to my dealer. I know this sounds maybe weird but some of these noises, I just associate with having a serious car that’s been made road legal in effect! Maybe it’s a lack of refinement but it doesn’t bother me in the slightest.

Hope you get the car sorted though.

Slightly off topic - I seen options when booking my service to include new front pads and discs for say £350 or whatever? What a strange option don’t you think?

I quite like the way the exhaust ' Ticks itself cool' think of it like the heavy breathing of an Olympic champion who's just won Gold and it won't seem so bad! My previous Cupra and Mazda M.P.S both did it, :D

I too have the slow start up. Similar to a bit of a misfire around 800rpm on start up. Going into the dealer on friday so they can look into it. Theyre also going to sort the creek from the front windscreen. As for the tires, mine too does the noise you describe especially on full right lock and moving at slow speeds ie 5mph.

1,5, and 6 are all normal. 5 is the clutch mechanism working, my previous mx5 also made the same noise. 6 is very common on performance cars due to the steering geometry. As mentioned, different tyres can help.
I suffer with 4 occasionally, with both 5th and 6th but it's completely random. Will ask the dealer when mine is due as a few people on here suggest there is a recall/fix.

Just had Service Required message appear on the Dash this morning. Is this a countdown to my 10000 first service. Service information says 855 miles 61 days.
Everytime you start the car it says it after it does the checks.

AFAIK it is a user defined value and is not automatically calculated by mileage / number of times brakes pressed / tyre tread depth etc. I haven't turned it on as I can mentally calculate how far away 10,000 miles is :)

Unlike my brother in laws M235 which is linked by gps to bmw, it just starts showing you a reminder when you get 1000 away (or 2 months).

When you drive the bmw really hard, they know, and the service interval is reduced accordingly. He got to about 4000kms, and car insisted he get a service ASAP. He ignored it, and 7 days later, the dealership rang, and said he risked voiding the warranty if he didn’t get it serviced as determined by the bmw computer.

Big brother at its very worst!!!

Just had my first (10,000 mile) service. That is basically an oil change and tell you that your tyres are worn out.
No other diagnostics requested (standard charge of £51 is somewhat offputting ).
Dealer put 14 miles on at 21.6 mpg.
I know that @_Emma posted similar but I can't find that post.
Anyone else have similar?

@speedking £51 for diagnostics eh?!

Yeah mine had miles on (I think it’s in cost of service thread?), even though I said they were not to take the car out under any circimstances. I didn’t have a reply to any email about it and my AA cover, but I’d complain that’s crappy. If they want to rag them, go rag the demo or buy their own. Some of the Aussie guys have had issues, as well.

Had mine serviced this morning... no miles added.

But then I did sit and watch the car! (Managed to get a bit of study done, but generally kept eyes on workshop entrance and dealership entrance!!!)

Not sure if this is entirely on topic but when I had an M.O.T done on a Mazda 3 M.P.S a few years ago the guy took it for a test drive! Never ever had that before, didn't mind, guess He wanted a go in a good car, He only went around the block so I thought 'spread the joy!'

@J BOB why would they be driving it on an MoT? I hate it. It’s mine, don’t drive my car!!

Yup, +1 for that sentiment! I get they need to road test on occasions, but I still hate it.

Stopped using the MB dealer here because I didn't trust what they were up to, not helped by them disconnecting the dash camera!

But your own $*?! If you want to do that!! I’m not precious about my stuff at all  (nobody else has driven my car, can’t stand it!)
