Racechip Development for the i20N

I have finally decided ... after long long toughts ... to purchase the Racechip GTS box

https://www.racechip.com/shop/hyundai/i20-bc3-from-2020/1-6-t-gdi-n-1591ccm-204hp-150kw-275nm.html

599CHF, including 2-year engine warranty, didnt opt for the App since I dont think is so necessary, you can actually change the modes using the buttons on the box

A bit strange, since in Switzerland they offer the two year warranty (I have received an email, upon delivery of the box I have to register car and box to get it activated)

On the other hand some guys in Greece ordered the box from Racechip, but they do not get the warranty ...

I will hopefully install next weekend and check the differences ...

Good morning SteveDek,

well, great choice!
After two months of use, I am satisfied with the purchase.
In my case, at the time of purchase, I also opted for the installation on the Mobile of the dedicated App that facilitates use of the ECU directly from the cockpit.
As I have already reported in the post

at the time of installation, carefully follow the instructions.
A warm greeting

Hi @valenpa a quick questions, I have already read the manual send by Racechip

The procedure is;
- open the engine bay bonnet
- lock the car
- press down the bonnet lever (so the car reports that the bonnet is closed)
- keep the wireless key away from the car (15meters or more)
- wait for 15minutes minimum
- start the installation
- release the bonnet lever
- unlock the car
- push the start button (without starting the engine)
- wait for the check to be done
- start the engine
- test the Racechip using the default settings (I think level-5)

Right?

Good evening SteveDek,

of course, the correct procedure is this and to be followed step by step.
The ECU's levels are three:
Eco: Basic Level 3 it is possible to get to 4
Sport: Basic Level 5 it is possible to get to 6
Race: Level 7

A warm greeting

Good morning SteveDek,

I forgot: after the installation, the OBD will signal some false errors: to remove them, it is enough
general check with an OBD reader.
Personally, I use the Carly OBD Tool and App which provides the BC3 software the latest version of i20
Ciao

Thanks @valenpa , if no Check Engine or other faults on dashboard for me is ok

But I will try also with the ODB tool you suggest to clear any errors if any

Good afternoon Steve Dek,

certainly, for example, the Tool and its App helped me when I installed OZ wheels to recognize their new TPMS.
Ciao

Good evening NeonLight,

I 'm aware that there are other ECU Modules: for example, DTUK also offers its own version

Personally, the choice of RaceChip GTS Black ECU for my i20N is due to their consolidated experience, customer service, availability of a Bluetooth App on Mobile for use.
Ciao

Just finished :) All good, no check engine or weird engine response ...

I will use for 100km the Mode-5 (default) and gradually step-up to Mode-7 ...

First impression on SPORT mode; half throttle and full throttle the engine has more torque and high end power is better

Hello my friend... yes, but DTUCK is a dealer of DTE Systems from Germany too how RaceChip... but them get +50cv... the difference is many...I not know how because in theory is the same system...

And for e-mail looks more receptive to service support...

Hello everyone,
I’m not really sure about buying the racechip Gts because here in italy we have full kasko insurance with Hyundai warranty but,i really want some extra Nm’s to use as i want😁so i ask to people who have buyied the chip if is worth. Also because right now for Oktober fest there is discount for Gts that cost with app around 449 € and i think is a really good offer.
Thanks to everyone will reply.

Good afternoon Justin_i20N,

meanwhile, I read with pleasure that you too are a passionate I20N's italian!
The "Plug & Play" installation allows, if necessary, to bring the car back to the "factory" specifications which is not always possible with the ECU remapping.
As I have already reported in my other posts, the ECU Race Chip GTS allows greater thrust
and more "breath" to the engine.
Three months after installation, I am very satisfied!
Ciao

Good morning everyone.
My i20n has gfp delete, increased intercooler dekat downpipe and airtrec direct intake.
Today I bought the racechip and I have to assemble it. does anyone have the same experience as me and can you tell me how all these changes combine with the chip?

The chip works within ECU parameters so while you might see a few more horses than a 100% stock i20N with the same Racechip model you have, the Racechip does not make full use of the aftermarket parts. A full ECU tune would do that, but ECU is fully locked as of now. Hopefully someone will be able to crack it soon.

Currently, those modifications will help keep heat low and therefore keep everything running well. So on track you would have more consistent power and significantly reduce the chance of overheating vs a 100% stock i20N with racechip.
