I'm happy with the replacement. I had a lot of options in the same price range (SXTH, HDT, Forge), but the majority of them would not have been approved by the TÜV. This route kept me compliant while improving airflow and cooling. The sound and throttle response improvements are nice as well. I expect even better results after I replace the intercooler and add a snorkel.

The quality of the Gruppenzwang products is TOP, it just can take a little while to receive them. If you look closely at the picture of the turbo inlet adapter you will see the quality of the welds 👍. It's really good work.

The third screw of the Intake 😈
i have a front strut bar and it is even tighter under it.
 
That I do agree with whole heartedly.👍 It’s right in the way of the bolt. It’s also blind and you have to feel your way around. No way of getting around it either.😮

I might laugh now but I was MF'n everything the entire time because I lost 2 of the screws in the motor while trying to get the 3rd one in. Luckily, I found both of them. It was however a serious chore. A flex socket and extender were necessary, magnetic if you have it so you don't lose a screw.

Now I know what you are talking about...something was lost in translation. We call that a "mounting bracket". I didn't even try to use it. Did use the 10mm screw that came from it though.

? You can't re-install the mounting bracket since the intake doesn't have the milled screw hole for the base plate attachment. At least on the Gruppenzwang pipe there isn't one and I haven't seen the bracket used on any others (since most of them are rubber...i.e. Forge). It's not necessary anyway to have it.

Now I'm really confused...did you make your own. From the picture its pretty obvious that it's not possible. The forge inlet is a 10-15 minute install since the elbow can be slipped on the base plate after the installation -- super easy. The Gruppenzwang inlet is one piece and ferrets out wider making screwing in the bottom rear bolt nearly impossible (45 min. - 1hr. install - without issue).

The OEM Inlet on the left clearly shows where the mounting bracket is attached to the body of the elbow. Which aftermarket turbo inlets do not have, at least I haven't seen one, and I've looked at all of them.

I'm not trying to be a jerk, I'm really interested to know how you did it and why you thought it would be necessary.

The AFE inlet has it, they have one for the oem intake or another for a larger intake.

I've never considered you as a jerk in anyway. :)

I used the aFe Takeda Turbo Air Inlet adapter and the Forge Pipe with the Forge Motorsport Intake tube. However, I also have the aFe Takeda Intake and it's easy to swap out with either depending upon what I need at the time. The Forge Motorsport Intake produces more power overall at my altitude but we have a season where there is a advantage to utilizing a full airbox. During the late winter and early spring, we have dust storms.:)

I can quickly swap out the Forge Motorsports Intake with the aFe Takeda, to preclude any ingestion of the fine dust that's produced in these storms.

If you'll remember the photos I posted in the off topic section of the forum; the mountains are completely obscured when we have these high wind dust storms. It's not like sand dust but very fine almost like talc. I don't want it in the engine for any reason.

This is why I said, "the second time around" and it wasn't any easier the second time either."🤣
