Hi Maverick,
There is approximately 10mm between the brake caliper and the inner wheel circumference, but if your talking between the caliper and the wheel spokes, I'm not sure, but the wheel rotates fine.
 
Yeah Paul is right, it's plenty of space, I believe no one on the forum tested ET42 yet (may be wrong though?).
That's why I was a little bit worried before. Anyhow, looks fantastic!
 
The poll is a disaster and I apologize for that, as most of the posted tyres aren't available for 225/40 18".
Nevertheless, these are my two personal favourites for this winter:

- Continental ContiWinterContact TS 850 P (225/40 R18 92V XL) Link
- Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4 (225/40 R18 92V XL) Link

There is also the brand new Alpin 5, available in 225/40 R18, but I haven't managed to find it anywhere online available for purchase.

Those two have taken first place in all tests I've seen online for winter 2018.
Thoughts on this? What are your favourites?
 
I was just talking with my favorite rim / tire dealer and I'm leaning toward the Brock B39 in 18" ET45 - I've been running Nokian tires D3 for the last few years and I'm satisfied with those (if they have them in my size might be D4)

Brock B39 HGM wheels are. But only the gray ones. They are posted in the first post too. :)
 
Thanks - that's exactly what I want to use. My dealer said that black rims would show white spots from the salt they use on the roads and I don't remember it showing up for winterfest.
 
If you have the money and the will to do it, ceramic coating, couple of coats, and who cares about winter! :p

Hyundai added one more set of 18" wheels, probably for general use (winter/summer), as they are on the 7,5J side of things, added in original post!

Whoa, Hyundai certainly likes OZ wheels, added one 19" set with winter tyres on their website.

Well I prefer dark wheels on light coloured cars, I went with matt silver OZ's for my phantom black, tis a nice contrast.

Since even the manual recommends 18" for winter, and we do get winters here, I have no doubt I will be going this way and probably when i eat the pirellis I'll be going 18" rubber for summer too... 19"s look great and all but I feel they will contradict the purpose of a fast car on the roads I have around, and all the curbs and speed bumps I have on my daily commute...
