It got pretty bad last year in the Peak District. Fortunately I live just on the edge so missed the worst. I live on an un-gritted street. Tried driving down it in my Fiesta ST. Only made it 15 metres before it got stuck and had to leave it there for a few days!

Rimstyle also offer 0% for either 6 or 12 months, I went for 6 months.

so, are 7.5" and 8" wheel sizes okay? I thought the recommendation was 7.5? Argh, I don't know enough about this subject lol
 
First off I’m gonna admit I’m a complete novice at this winter tyre/new alloys for them lark...as the following Q may prove:eek:

So you find a set of wheels that fit and tyres suitable too, inc the pressure monitor etc (like you guys gave out links up for). How do you fit them? Does the supplier do them on the drive or do you take them to a garage to get fitted? DIY?

If you buy a "set" from a retailer (wheels,tyres,TPS's) they will assemble the wheels, so all you have to do is swap them over. If you go to a retailer with an on site garage they will probably offer to put your new wheels on for you, and you can take your other alloys home in the boot :cool:

Most of these guys fit & balance the wheel/tyre packages, ship them to you, and you can fit them... as long as your spare wheel jack & brace are all present & correct. Or pay extra to have them delivered to a "fitting partner" nearby...

I know maybe it was a given before, but I'm glad I got a written confirmation 18" wheels are the recommended winter size, so I guess getting 18" wheels that don't fit over the brakes would be a rare bad luck.

Also: they sent me a screenshot of a service bulletin, saying the recommended winter tyre dealerships should offer primarily is Dunlop Winter Sport 5.
The bulletin said it was the conclusion of testing various winter tyres on the N during it's development period.
So a fun fact that they recommend different tyres in different countries apparently... I somewhat doubt it has anything to do with research tho, just business ;)

My 'Lady N Red' binged at me this morning as I drove out of the garage - she was saying, "It's only 2C this morning - are you thinking about my winter shoes yet?" Of course I am - just waiting for the TÜV certificate to purchase.
 
Are the Spigot Rings also necessary for rims they are officialy recommen on different websites for our car?

For the experts here, what you guys think, will be this rims are ok for the car?

they are offical recommend for our car.
i am not sure about the brakes in front, i have the performance edition

you can use them but you have to modify the fenders and show them to TÜV. (in the rims appraisals)
look for wheels with ET 45-50 if you dont want to do that.

shit, i forgot about the et. thanks man. why they list this kind of rims? THis is the reason, why i am bit scared about buying rims for this car on websites:confused:
