Water, washcloth, leaves, writing paper, paper towels, hose, bidet, the cardboard roll it self, sea shells, finger is necessary, grass, wipes, shop towels, etc. You name it there's plenty of alternatives!:p It's called; "adapt and overcome!";). Or........ you can go commando until it dries and just knock it off!!😜

Anyone on this thread running the aFe street series high flow catted downpipe?? Been looking at this or the SXTH unit but I am leaning towards aFe as it is in two pieces which should drastically help with install. Also, I have been loving the intake from them I just installed

Well Afe has been around much longer than SXTH has. You can get the Afe unit much cheaper too if you can wait till the next major holiday. They will give you 20% off original price. If it were me, Id' go with the Afe down pipe and then maybe think about bolting up their mid-pipe to the stock muffler. ;) That's what I plan eventually.

Mike, great minds think alike. When I do get to this, I will be going afe downpipe over sxth and I have been looking very heavily into getting their non-resonator midpipe. I plan to leave the stock muffler though so I can still be *relatively* quiet when I need to be

Yup, I was thinking the same thing. No problems with the valve on the stock muffler and I think it sounds fine for the car so I am leaving it on there. That's the exact set-up I want once I get back working again.

Yeah I'm holding off for a bit on any additional things hah, any idea what they consider a major holiday? Gotta set a budget for the next one hahaha

What do you guys think between the downpipe or intake. Only going to get one right now, leaning DP. Love the way it makes the turbo sound and expect to get much better gains with it. Not planning to tune the ECU currently, want to keep my warrenty, but it's my understanding our cars dont NEED a tune for either part.
Thoughts???

I like your thinking on this. I went with the intake and have a RaceChip and some HKS plugs on the way and I'm done for the next bit as far as engine mods go. I think the downpipe would be the best bang for your buck at this point. If you want the most put of the downpipe I would also jump on like a K&N drop in filter to help get more air through the turbo. Cheap fix until you jump on a whole intake

Less expense and trouble of installation with the Intake first. There is additional expense in a downpipe, especially if you're not doing the work yourself. You may only want to do an Intake and Catback Exhaust in the long run. Modifying can be a slippery slope, when you under take it. It can be expensive and demanding of your time and money. You just have to accept what comes along with it.:)

Yeah, was planning to install everything myself. As the DP can be a pain in the ass to remove. I know the bolts can be hard to remove. Hopefully, not too much harder them my old STI as that DP was also a total pain. Took a full day of PB blaster, and beer to get loose.
I assume the Cat is the most restrictive part of our exhaust, followed by the mid pipe. Was thinking I would do the DP now, before I get too many miles on the N, hopefully that helps it come off easier, and then get myself the intake for Xmas! 😜 Then probably hold off for while on the engine mods.

The diameter of the mid pipe is 2.5" so it shouldn't be too restrictive. I took out the resonator and it did change the sound slightly.

If you're going to install and aftermarket downpipe and desire to gain the hp improvement available, 3" catback is required. They go hand in hand with each other and get rid of any bottlenecks that restrict the increase exhaust scavenging. :)
