Other Veloster N Aftermarket exhaust

I got the oiled filter. I may purchase a dry one too though. You can get them separately. I also ordered my Afe intake directly from Afe. A couple times per year they offer a 20% off too. I have the Afe intake hooked up to a Velossa Tech intake snorkle. Works so good!!!!!! I am now going to install the Forge turbo tube to it but I cannot decide to just cut the Forge silicone tube or order a new 90 degree bend 3" one? I have a stainless steel coupler and a 4" to 3" reducer to make it fit. Come on Red, I need some answers. Lol...

Best regards,

-Mike
Nice! I keep going back and forth with oiled or dry. Feel like get slightly better airflow with the oiled filter, but the dry is just so damn convenient. Lol How does the intake sound compare to OEM? :)

The intake sounds mostly close to stock but the additional airflow makes the exhaust louder. They do have a plug on the side of the intake you can take off but I leave mine plugged since I have the intake snorkle. I may also fabricate something to open the plug up. Maybe some long tubing to go down where the bumper opening is. My only concern is that it may make the intake snorkle not work as good as it relies on pressure somewhat. I am going to go with just a 3" tube now. Red has talked me into it, plus it will be a much cleaner install. Thanks for the input, Red.

That's funny you say this, I was just thinking yesterday about running an intake tube from the fake vent on the driver side and debating on if that would help/hurt airflow. Lol would probably do that instead of the intake snorkle, but I feel like the more air the better right? šŸ˜‰

I have the Velossa intake snorkle that's why I didn't open it up yet. There really isn't any substitute for a properly designed intake snorkle like the Velossa one. I just don't want to loose any air flow by opening the plug up which may happen, especially at high speeds. Not sure if that vacuum effect would take place with the plug open?

I also run a catch can on the PCV side. On the Hyundai it's a matter of personal preference because it's less than .05% of blow-by but if I owned a Honda I absolutely would run one. They can get as mush as 4% blow by. To me that's not good...

Best regards,

-Mike

Speaking of cleaner. What are your thoughts on using a catch can, recirculating, or venting to atmosphere with our cars?
You do not want to vent to the air, it's Illegal. Get caught, big fine! Plus you've modified the PCV system against what Hyundai allows. For recommendations to do or not to do try here;

Hey guys, my Takeda intake came today. I had order the stage 2 (open too design). They sent me the momentum style instead which is honestly an upgrade, burning their mix up did not include the above referenced plug for the side. Are there any downsides to running this without the plug? Thanks guys.

So if I was just hooking the intake up the the stock inlet (no VelossaTech Big mouth unfortunately) it would not have much of a direct drawback?? I am just figuring as when I am really pushing car there will be a pretty healthy amount of fresh air in that area even if it isn't being directly fed

Free upgrade. Can't beat that. See if you can order it separately. You could measure it and maybe get some intake tubing and run it down that open space you will see when you put the AFE in the car. Let us know how it goes. I think you are gonna love the intake. Seriously...

No drawbacks, it was designed with this in mind to begin with. You'll be fine either way. :)

However, keep the Velossa Tech Ram Air Snorkel in mind, as an added upgrade and enhancement. It will increase the intake pulse volume leading to better performance and lower IAT's, at idle and when on the move.

Yeah can't really complain. I reached out to see what afe suggested to do. I can't see them expecting me to ship back the intake so I figured if they say I need to but the plug I have to buy the plug.

The Velossa makes a huge difference, especially at higher speeds. It creates more of a complete vacuum effect which in turn makes the turbo work way more efficient. And it probably has a better effect on air temperatures too. Of course this is the theology in my head. I am sure Red has data on it. I'm just too lazy. lol... No seriously, if I read something works in another platform I don't mind trying it on the VN. The platform I had befor this car was a 2014 Ford Fusion 2.0L turbo. I modded the $hit out of that car. 306whp and 377ftq... lol... The only shortfall in those cars are the 6 speed automatic transmissions. Not very strong to handle power. Won't ever buy another automatic transmission.

You don't even have to do that. If you need a plug go to the local True Value, Ace or Home Depot or Amazon and just buy a rubber plug. They have all sorts of sizes available. preferable a hard plastic plug would be better but either will work. I'll post some more links of where to pick them up.:)

I'll measure the size of the hole and let you know directly what size you need.

Thanks guys! Not a expert on the subject myself, so this is good info. šŸ˜‰
