Sound Upgrade

Has anyone who has fitted the Pioneer GM-D1004 amp upgrade got any pics of the position or install?

I know a few in Germany have fitted this but my German is Nicht Gut.
I think its attached above glovebox somewhere and there is some special route for all the cabling?

There is certainly a lot of it!
I've read something about pulling the Blue/White wire from the amp harness to stop 'Popping' when system is switched on?!

If you need some help with translation, just let me know. Using a translator doesn't always work out so well. As is said, "something is always lost in the translation." :)
 
Managed to fit the Pioneer amp referenced above pretty easily.

The wiring harness needs a bit of fiddling to push head unit back in but not too bad.
Ran the wires through to glove box and mounted amp in there. Blue/white wire on amp power loom needed removing to stop "bang" noise when it powered up.

Not too bad a job, few bits of trim to remove but doable in about 1 hour.

Added amazing amount of power compared to standard and well worth it (I already have upgraded speakers).
Amp cost about £50 off Amazon
Wiring harness was £15ish off eBay.

That sounds promising. I’ve just bought the same amp and some new speakers too. Would you mind putting up a link to the type of harness you had to get?

Hello all! i would like yo ask you if you know wich apeakers (3 way because i haw not place for tweeters) may install for a i30 klass, my idea is install just the

Pioneer GM-D1004 amp and change the speakers.

I,m looking for in internet but there is a lot differents speakers hahah.

No problemo, they've slightly raised the price but still the cheapest I found by far.

(Edit: ah, your in Oz!! Not sure how getting from UK will suit you?!)

If you get one just check all the wires are properly connected as one wasn't fully crimped onto the spade on mine. Bit of solder sorted it by would have been very annoying if it happened during install.

Any pics of where you mounted the amp? Did you make any bracket to bolt it on to something?

Mounted it directly in the glove box with double-sided tape. Easily removable if needed and you can still adjust any settings on it if needed. I'll try and take some pics later as have to go out to collect shopping.

Just got the Pioneer upgrade from hyundaizubehoer.de installed. Took a few hours of work.
Not exactly plug and play - drilled holes in the speak mount brackets to run the wires to the OEM connectors. Also has to solder the tweeter cables to the OEM plug and glue them to the grilles.
Used some small metal plates that came with the speakers to mount the amp behind the dash right above the glove box, bent them into U shape and zip tied to the frame.
Applied some sound dampening on the door sheet metal (there's funny traces of that from the factory) - makes the door sound less tinny.'
The most difficult parts were removing the dash speaker grilles (really hard not to damage them) and fitting the head unit back in place with all the new wiring added - tugged it in all the spare areas behind the dash as much as I could, however when you're pushing it back in - have to do that blindly as there's no space to check you're not pinching any of the wires...

The sound difference is really great, the richness and bass have improved significantly, treble is now not overpowering - doesn't feel like a cheap car sound system any more.

You can mount it where you like basically but the wiring harness will not be long enough to reach to the seat.

Some mount it behind the trim above glovebox, I have mine inside the glovebox.

Once you have all the trim removed you will see where cables can be run and where the best location is to suit you.
 
Exactly, there's not much room to improvise on this, the wires aren't long enough and the amp is small enough as well - makes no sense to remove most of the trim to run the wires under the seat.

I fitted the same amp as well. Took just over an hour. Amazing difference. I put mine with Velcro on a little Sorta “shelf” area above the heater controls. Fits in there easy. There is a great cavity behind And between the air vent pipes: just stuff the wires in there, too easy.

Any suggestions for speakers I could use for the back seats? Will be Using Eton POW 160.2 for front seats.
