Res Delete

Ok, no errors is nice, but have you done a res delete or muffler delete? The guy i went was a bit unsure about doing the res delete because, to his words, "it is too small, it wont make any difference in sound"... well, since i haven't known any i30n user near me that has done such mod, i trusted his words...
He's wrong, it's tiny but makes a huge difference. Sounds great with the valves open. Mine went from 94db to 97db static after the delete and it crackles and gurgles really aggressively even at low speed.

A res delete.. That’s funny because the guy that did mine said exactly the same thing, tried to talk me out of it, said it’s small and wouldn’t make a difference, I just said I’m here now just do it, turns out he was wrong, trust me it does make a difference..

Its funny how they know so little about the N. In his honest defense, he never ever seen one on his shop, and went all "let me see under the bonnet, below the car...". Anyways, thanks for the feedback, really helpful.

He literally did the same, talked me out of it.... in my case, he was successful lol. I think he played on the safe side.
Thanks for sharing

No cop is going to catch you here in the UK, people have been running without catalytic converters for ever and still don't even get a warning lol. Biggest issue is warranty obviously, so perhaps something to think about when those 5 years are up :)
I'll ask my local dealer but I imagine it will void warranty. Not really what I'd want tbf... Gpf :(

I have a 2018 (non-GPF) model and if you are driving between buildings downtown, under bridges or in indoor parking garages it sounds loud and mean (in a very cool way).

Is it a big difference when getting a res delete?

As a side note the future of cool sounding cars does not look so good in EU: https://www.motorauthority.com/news...tion-means-future-sports-cars-wont-be-as-loud
is it a rule that every model prior to 2019 is "non gpf"? Mine is from 05/2018 so i assume that is GPF free lol

68 plate cars have GPF. Usually after Sept 2018 cars are fitted with one.

GPF Delete on its own (without mapping) will only void exhaust warranty. If you remap, then more of it is voided, but yeah it's still something that I will probably be considering next year as sound is a big reason as to why I got this car.

Ah. So it really depends how much value is put on that exhaust warranty. Decisions... Worth the extra sound? Definitely sounds ace to me.

Correct, but also the OEM exhaust will get louder and pop/burble more as you do more miles on it. For example my brand new car sounds quite tame compared to the one I had before which had 4500 miles on it, yet they both have a GPF.

Also with a Remus/Miltek cat back only (without a gpf delete) you can put it on and off as you see fit (for example if you need to bring the car back to the dealer for a recall/warranty work). No need for mapping there.

It is worth it, Voiding the exhaust warranty alone is not a huge thing really, your not going to break the bank replacing an exhaust, anything to do with the engine though, then you have to have a serious think about it, because that won’t be cheap if something goes wrong..

Well, for what is worth, in Portugal, apparently, ALL the N's were sold "GPF on", even from 05/2018 (like mine). Big disappointment really... And when i said some N on other countries have been sold gpf off, they were a bit chocked as why it was possible... weird right? So much for the res delete mod :\

Then Remus it is, eh?
I'm afraid yes, its the only path to a little more happiness lol. Not to repeat, but will the remus exhaust need to be remap as the GPF-on cars will get a check engine light? i'm kind confused on this matter. For now, 2k for an exhaust seams a little steep, and the wife would kill me most certainly lol

No, you won't need to remap for a catback exhaust and there will be no CEL. To get a CEL, there has to be some connect to the ECU. If you changed the downpipe and didn't add a bung extension to the O2 bung you'd get a CEL (O2 Sensor Spacer).

Pretty sure he needs a remap for a Cat Back, since that will include installing a GPF Delete pipe. Only GPF-Back exhausts won't need maps from my understanding as there are no sensors after that.
