Res Delete

I was excited to get a res delete and then I kept reading... I have a gpf equipped N :(

I have a 2018 (non-GPF) model and if you are driving between buildings downtown, under bridges or in indoor parking garages it sounds loud and mean (in a very cool way).

Is it a big difference when getting a res delete?

As a side note the future of cool sounding cars does not look so good in EU: https://www.motorauthority.com/news...tion-means-future-sports-cars-wont-be-as-loud

Yes it’s a big difference, not in normal mode thankfully, but when it’s a cold start up, or in custom or N mode you really notice it, it’s certainly louder that’s for sure, the bangs are ridiculous, and I seem to be getting them at lower revs also, I’m glad I did it..

...and I seem to remember last year when you were totally N-raged about the lack of cacophony from your exhaust. Satisfaction at last ;).

Well I’m not sure what happened but the bangs started to happen a lot easier after I had a few months, so it’s been ok for a while now, I usually get them at around 4.5 where as early on I had to smash past 5.5 to get anything, seems to be getting better with age..

Would it be recommended to get a straight GPF delete, maybe with the hinges to allow it to be bolted back on when required?

Also as I understand it - GPF replaced the resonator for my car so it would basically have the same effect?

Needless to say this res delete will affect the warranty, right? At least the exhaust warranty part...

That's correct, I plan on doing the same after I get a 1-2k miles on it.

Yessir I believe someone posted earlier in the thread it will not void engine warranty(At least in the states) but exhaust system warranty goes out the window when you start chopping it up.

Just saying, a Remus exhaust is probably the best way to go on the GPF cars, since not only it has an ECE marking on it (meaning it's legal in all of the EU without special need of approval) and sounds quite good.

Is there a video of one fitted to a GPF car? Without the GPF delete I doubt it will make much of a difference ?

Only thing is that it's... Not the cheapest thing in the world - I've heard the Remus in person and thoroughly enjoyed it however.

I'm unsure if a gpf delete would even be worth doing compared to a car without gpf?
Surely it would cause issues later?

Yup it will. Starting with the fact that you'll have to do a tune to remove the GPF errors and then when you have to get the car inspected at some point you'll also have some troubles. Not to speak of what happens when some cops catch you (in Austria and Germany especially they seem to be quite anal about exhaust mods)

Did you get any errors after the res delete?

No cop is going to catch you here in the UK, people have been running without catalytic converters for ever and still don't even get a warning lol. Biggest issue is warranty obviously, so perhaps something to think about when those 5 years are up :)

Nope.. all good, everything is the same except it’s louder, the muffler guy that did it said it won’t affect anything accept the sound..
Ok, no errors is nice, but have you done a res delete or muffler delete? The guy i went was a bit unsure about doing the res delete because, to his words, "it is too small, it wont make any difference in sound"... well, since i haven't known any i30n user near me that has done such mod, i trusted his words...
