My i20N

I’ve been doing some more messing around with my cars gear knob. I’ve re lacquered the carbon fibre one I had made earlier and I customised a copy of the original that I bought from AliExpress - I filled the indents in the silver trim ring and sprayed it black. I also covered the blue stripe to match my car colour. I say the AliExpress knob is a copy but it’s an extremely good quality one. There are some differences between the two which suggests it is a copy but it even came in a Hyundai parts bag with the part number printed on it.

I’ve just seen this Instagram post from RPM Performance that shows their new brace fitted - looks great I think.

Love the design, hopefully

Looks really, really nice, my heart is less broken now :)

The curse of owning a sticker cutter….

Never able to leave well alone I have created one of those stickers you may have seen that go on the rear quarter window. Typically, for me, it’s based on a reasonably common hexagon design, but a complicated version of it and the 255 refers to the bhp of the car. It’s all a bit ‘boy racer‘ but I can always just peel it off! Oh, the reason it only covers the lower half of the window is because the full design won’t fit on my sticker cutter, but I have designed the rest of it and can add it if I decide I like it.

So, what do you guys think - is it cool or is it too much? - I could peel off all the hexagon stuff and just leave the 255?

I’ve just done some simplistic photo manipulation and come up with these two options:

Yeah, I think they will do well with these. I’m happy with the brace I have but if I didn’t have it I would get one of these.

I like the pattern tbh, just the numbers is a little odd? Its your car though. I was just designing some myself actually, got one for the middle rear light since i replaced my broken light and didnt fancy refitting the paintmodz cover again this time but wanted a design over it.
You know you can get longer mats for the cutter, right? I got a 12x24inch one (and many 12x12s with different colour vinyl on them)

Oh, no, I didn’t realise you could get longer mats - I’ll have a look now 👍.

To be honest, I don’t rate the Paintmodz stuff. A lot of it is acrylic and that scratches way too easily. A sticker will be a much better solution for the rear brake light 👍.

I’ve had a redesign of the window sticker and will cut it in a bit.

My recent experience of the brake wear sensors.

On the i20N there are two brake wear sensors. One is on the drivers side front wheel and the other on the drivers side rear wheel. They are built into the inner pads and are of the sensor wire type.

However, I have Brembo calipers on the front of my car so the standard pads will not fit. The last couple of weeks I’ve found that every time I go into N mode a warning sounds and a message comes on the dash warning me to check my brake pads for wear before track driving! After some investigation I’ve found the front wear sensor has been cut off. I stripped off some insulation and tightly twisted the wires and wrapped in electrical tape - now there is no more warning. I’m soon replacing the discs and pads so this only has to be a temporary fix.

I drew and cut this little decal - will most probably peel it off tomorrow though as it doesn’t really fit with the general theme.
