Tuning JB4 Technical Info, Discussion, Issues

Is there an issue with it?

There is. You're being a dick.

I understand im currently not home so i posted a question in hopes i got get my answer or get lead to finding my answer.

I get that but you started being rude. Just calm down. If you don't like the answer you can tell them or just not respond. I've got no interest in cleaning up a verbal shitshow of a thread.

Where was i rude?

Well...
Thinking back on it I didn't ask for your input in that post I was talking with the other guy. You remind me of those annoying ass professors that say 95% of kids fail my class.

@TheRealNate just stop for a few hours or so and go outside and then come back. You're being argumentative and making a bad name for yourself. Just take a bit of a time-out.

I 100% agree with that statement he had no reason to answer i was responding to a member that has been very nice and helpful. And thats kinda of who he reminds an old professor of mine.

Sounds like sweetness to have been educated.
Big difference between you and I. Is I read the pages, didn’t understand the topic still. So I looked to the most knowledgeable members and PM’d them. Instead of posting a repetitive post and starting a pissing match with one of the most knowledgeable individuals on this site. Sure he can be a bit abrasive if you don’t understand his personality. But you catch more flies with honey then vinegar.

Ive never physically facepalmed from reading a post before but that there did it Clark.. even if your search bar isn’t functioning you can still go to the tuning section and click on the relevant threads.

Does anyone else log ECU_PSI on their JB4? If I increase my boost target, the value for ECU_PSI just drops lower and lower. I am noticing that the values I put in for map6 dont really seem to matter that much. It seems like the ECU is still managing to overpower the JB4 with torque limiting.

I have a couple logs that can show that wether I set the jb4 to add 2psi up top, or 8psi up top, I end up with the same amount of boost, often less boost the higher I try to go. For example, map 3 adds about 5psi on top, my last log on that map shows almost 16psi at 5k, and a hair over 12psi at 6k. With map6 set to add 7 psi, with multiple logs, my best run has 15psi at 5k, and 10.5psi at 6k.

Has anyone else experienced this? Would perhaps disconnecting the battery for some time help this issue?

The ECU_PSI value isn't the boost the ECU is targeting/commanding, it's the outgoing boost signal from the JB4 to the ECU. The JB4 lowers it in order to make the ECU command more boost. So the higher you set the boost target on the JB4 the lower that ECU_PSI value will go. Last I checked Berger said the display/logging of the ECU commanded boost value (what you thought ECU_PSI was showing) wasn't available on this platform yet.

Also, looking at the logs posted here and reading the advice guide on N54 forum, I see the logs of map1 people have posted are showing good timing that starts at about 12 and ramps smoothly up to 22 or so. The logs everyone's posted running map 2 are showing what Terry called "flatlined" timing in some cases, where timing drops to 0, or at the best case one of the logs is showing a big dip to 3.5 before it recovers. I saw that in my own logs with map2 on my car with only a forge intake and 3-4" turbo inlet. From what I read that's less than ideal, and in the case where the timing "flatlines" at zero it's unsafe. Weird thing is I only saw that timing dip on the first pull of the session, and then none after that despite higher IAT's. I'm considering doing a custom map to try to get the top end of map 2 but avoid the timing dip like map 1 does.

Edit: I just saw that the V22 firmware has lower boost targets on the low end for map 1 and 2, so I'm going to try going from V19 to V22 and log again and see if that doesn't fix it for me. Really just want to run map 2 till I get more money for a FMIC and WMI in the spring.

I recently got a JB4 what map should I reliably run with only spark plugs and maybe an intake down the line?

Utilize the search at the top of the page it will find corresponding information quickly; :)
Unfortunately it doesn't work or I would have used it and I manually looked and couldn't find anything.

Yep, top of the page across from the

emblem to the right. No worries. :)
