Work got carried out and have had car back over week but when idling not in gear I can hear/feel ticking kind noise that disappears when I press clutch in.
I presumed it would be thrust bearing but garage confirmed this was also changed during new clutch being fitted.
They seem think it’s normal but I just don’t remember it being there before car went in.
Could it be anything else or do you think it just needs to bed in ( done about 300 miles since fitted )
Should not be ticking at all. Sounds like a flywheel issue to me. Here’s a video of one ticking: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1RTZ47yDRQvwKhypddFFK_6G3rEH4cpXb/view?usp=drivesdk

If it’s the flywheel and you need a new one, don’t get it from them, since you’ll pay A LOT over what it actually costs. Here’s the non-Hyundai part number (same part):
  • LuK 415 1071 10

If it’s the clutch, make sure they bled it correctly. It’s not as simple as one might expect. Here’s the proper bleeding procedure: https://drive.google.com/file/d/16hDgrhMe6pd_CWy-1alNhFtK_V7nqVre/view?usp=drivesdk

Do you know a clutch replacement part numbers by any chance? My clutch started slipping recently (91k km) especially noticeable in 6th gear and will need replacing. My car is fully stock and I would prefer a stock replacement as I'm not looking to tune it in the future.

Honestly, I don't. I never even considered getting another OEM clutch as it's more expensive than the RTS HD clutch and barely handles the stock power (I am stock as well).
I got this one: https://shop.mt-tuning.net/products/hyundai-i30n-schaltgetriebe-upgrade-kupplung-rts-hd

Get the part number from any dealer on the phone. I haven't seen them sold anywhere else other than a dealership anyways.

Hi everyone,

I was just changing the oil in 60k km (37k miles) 2019 i30N and my mechanic found out in the gearbox oil pan metal chunk, a rather big one, like 10x3x1mm, does anyone know what it could be? The car has no problem with the gearbox at all, shifts fine, has no noises, nothing, and drives like new.

Thanks in advance!

Picture?

I think me and my mechanic found out what that is, almost 100% fragment of gearbox guide, it even has the same scratches on the surface as on this pic, someone must have use a little bit too much force...

Yeah, I believe that's it, the gearbox doesn't produce any disturbing sound and there were little to no flakes in the oil, only some on the magnet. I saw i30N's oil after 90k km which looked like it's mixed with glitter...

Yeah, I've just got mine 2 months ago, the previous owner was doing everything as the dealer said, so, unfortunately, that was the first gearbox oil change for this car

Dealer servicing is usually abysmal in my opinion. When I worked as a mechanic you could tell dealer servicing, just looking at the brakes.

Nevertheless, I would be glad if someone with greater knowledge would confirm my theory or point out what this metal piece could be 👀

About the gear tooth, I double-checked, and it's not possible, piece is too thin and flat.
