Brake pads

Also forgot to report that I got a reply from Pagid on i20N products: by "end of this year" they will release front and rear Street+ brake pads. They also mentioned more "racing products" coming in autumn. We'll see!

I ended up getting the FriTech R60 and will see how they are.
I had my first trackday with them on Saturday. Very satisfied with the performance, they never showed fade which is an impressive result. Nice little rocket the i20N , here a video of my best lap:

Only thing, after 20 or so laps I got this message on the dash:

Which in English should correspond to this one from the manual:

The message does indeed appear now every time in Sport+, although braking is fine and ”visually” pads have much more than 4mm left.

I’ll have them checked, but possible that the wear indicator is not compatible with third party pads?

Does anybody know a way to disable this kind of dash message or at least how to mute the beep (which is quite annoying, as it was intended to be… 😅)?

The wear sensor breaks when it gives a warning and must always be replaced or bypassed to cancel it.

I confirm it was the sensor, the plastic head basically disintegrated with the heat generated by the more performing pads...

Bypassed like in this video. Good thing no reset is needed so can be done without a trip to the dealer.

Now priority becomes cooling down front brakes, the difference between front and rear is insane... I've only found this for the i20N: https://www.nexdshop.de/produkt/luftleitblech-bremsenkuehlung/
Maybe something like this can be adapted: https://www.speedengineering.de/en/produkt/brake-cooling-system-suitable-for-hyundai-i30n-new-version-complete-set/

Guys how do you deal with brake pads sensor on aftermarket pads? Do you cut the wire and short it or something else?

I don't know how this working on the N, I haven't experience with pad sensors yet.

I would check resistance with a multimeter, then you will see, if you need to circuit it or not. Buy the counter part of the connector to seal it, maybe you can reuse the sensor complete. Depending on the new pad, if there is a slot, too why not.

Yeah i doubt aftermarket parts have a slot for it, that is why I am asking people who replaced the pads, what was their solution

I still have some material on the pad left, I don't expect to change the front pads that soon. But still want to go with the DS2500.

You can use the sensor also with aftermarket pads. It worked with mine till I melted it during a track day 😅 After that I have short-circuited it to avoid a very annoying error that would come up every time the engine is on the most aggressive setting
