Completely sealed. Hood is a heat source in reality, from both outside and inside which equates to higher heat soak over longer engine running periods. Less chance of direct water ingestion, I keep my engine sprayed off. Cleaner filter.
Reading are different for every dyno and ambient conditions. Most of the differences have to do with the amount of actual air the filter element allows, the size of the power pulse and IAT's. The only appreciable difference is the hood and it's inability to shed heat from inside and outside ambient conditions.
The Momentum intake is, dependant upon outside air, without the heat soak of the hood.
@TarmoT has already developed his maximum torque and hp by use of a closed air box. So you have some direct comparable data to refer to.
Couple either, with a Velossa Tech Ram Air Snorkel and Bobs your uncle!
