You could always start a 'Kayser or Trasparenze?' thread.

But no, you would end up ingesting filth and your engine would die prematurely. The only use these things have under the bonnet is as an emergency fan belt. I actually employed a pair for that purpose about 25 years ago. Don't ask me where I got them.

Gave the car "the beans" this morning and it performs flawlessly. There is indeed some mild chatter at lower revs if you are into that sort of thing but under load this thing absolutely gulps the air in.

After parking up I did a very un-scientific, ahem......test - the engine bay to the left hand side of the partition was (obviously) very hot but the right hand side of the intake (the inlet) side was completely cold still.

There isn't really any cold air feed going on here so I guess the whole thing relies on just sucking the "good" air in from the inlet side? I dunno......witchcraft may be involved? :p

I may look at adding some form of cold air inlet anyway, maybe cutting into the undertray and fitting a scoop to direct more air up into that inlet area when in motion. It probably doesn't really require that but its good to fiddle, right?

Really happy with how this car drives, the Intake combined with the GFB Response valve and a DTUK pedal box has given me a smooth drive no matter what speed, revs, driving mode etc :cool:

I'm tossing up between the ITG filter and leaving the stock airbox lid off or getting the whole Maxogen kit.. It's pretty pricey and it seems like a gamble if there will be minimal noise difference compared to just leaving the lid off, my only concern is because it's so shielded it could deaden noise a bit :confused:

The Maxogen kit sounds totally different to just having the airbox lid off imho (and its louder)!

I tried the airbox lid off option and thought it sounded awful tbh.

I've no regrets with my choice.

I might meet in the middle and buy the ITG filter with the airbox lid off then and see how that goes with induction noise first.

Hope these oiled filters are kind to MAP sensors however.
 
MAP sensor measures pressure, usually by piezoelectric components which will not be influenced even if there would be oil coming from the filter. Air mass sensors may actually be influenced, depending on their working principle (usually thermoelectric). According to several people here on the forum, the Veloster N / i30 N does not have an air mass but only MAP sensor.
 
This ^ is correct. There is no MAF sensor. The MAP sensor is not in the intake air flow, as is the MAF sensor.;)

I'm very interested in the Maxogen kit. A video with the sound would be awesome.

I have been driving with aftermarket intake 4-months. I liked that additional sound what it made together with Turbosmart BOV. But it looks like I am too old for this kind of things, so I removed everything and put back all stock items (Oem air filter included).
I also made before and after dyno runs and lets be honest - nothing changed :) With Oem filter I managed to make even +1bhp compaired with Pipercross drop in filter.
So, for performance, Oem is very good and it only needs 3D printed duct.
But young guys who like the sound of open intake and BOV - can recommend 100% ;)

I can't believe K&N still haven't got out a direct I30N replacement cone filter yet. o_O

I'm heading to Brisbane today and I have the option of either going the ITG filter or Maxogen intake (which I'm trying to avoid as I just want maximum noise increase for minimal fuss)..

Will foam type filters insulate noise more than a K&N style cotton filter ? I really want the K&N variant but they're just taking their time it seems. I'd hate to pick up this ITG filter and it make absolutely no difference to noise.

They're working on an intake for the VN which ought to fit the i30N. I emailed them about it a couple of months ago. They responded and stated, they're working on the intake now.

K & N have always be a bit slow and steady off the mark.
