only when you remove the airbox lid, otherwise its not noticeable imoDoes k&n or pipercross filter make any difference on sound? Is it noticable? And not going to buy any aftermarket intake cause i think its bit too much for me

After some digging around, I am finding it harder to find a bad review on the IFX intake for the i30N. However, I can't help but notice from photos that the front section of the IFX heat shield looks almost as thought it's blocking the OEM intake cut out (the section that is typically supported by a Velossatech Mouth Ram Intake). Does anyone know if the heat shield does in fact block this section/affects the intake negatively/a Mouth Ram Intake would be beneficial or pointless for the IFX? Thank you in advance and apologies if this was asked previously!
It is, your not the only info who noticed this. I believe this is why some have stayed away from purchasing it.
Do you have any particularly favourite air intake? Trying to find one that's the best of both worlds... at the moment I'm thinking the perfect set up would be the IFX intake and using a dremmel to cut a "intake-duct-sized" hole in the front heat shield lol. Only thing with the IFX... do you know if there is a Turbo inlet/adapter that fits this? I doubt the Forge one would work although I'm not too sure the adapter is even that beneficial, I'm starting to think the AFE would be the best of both worlds but can't justify $200+ AUD for a turbo adapter...It is, your not the only info who noticed this. Open or closed airbox, is only determinant with environmental conditions. Where I live, several months out of the year are rather windy and have dust storms. Hence a closed air-box use. When the conditions change to minimal winds, dry conditions and hotter temps, I change over to the Forge Motorsport Intake.
Heat soak makes and higher IAT’s real difference and only affects the intake at idle. Once the car is moving, IATs quickly fall below OEM operational norms.

I am coming from a V8, so trying to learn the "Hot Hatch" and turbo side of things..
I want to put in an aftermarket air intake to increae intake/turbo noise.
I test drove one with an IFX intake, and also searched youtube etc and all of them have quite abit of turbo flutter. Now, i love the sound of it but ofcourse it will attract alot of unwanted attention.
I am wanting only a small amount or Turbo flutter to avoid attented from the boys in blue.
Is there a way to increase the induction noise but keep the flutter to a minimum?

Has anyone tried the Green cotton drop in direct replacement air filter ? Have used these on other cars and were good quality and easy to clean when required
They haven't been massively popular on this platform (they are quite pricey from what I recall when I've looked at them) but are a high quality filter and will do the job well.
Best price I can find in uk is around £70 delivered so at only £20 more than the pipercross I may give it a go. Not keen on foam filters
Not really I'm afraid. There isn't really a "half way house".

Drop in panel filter will slightly increase noise with no flutter. They don't sound or feel massively different to standard tbh.
Open cone/induction kits will greatly increase induction noise but also flutter.

Holy shit, that's outrageous. Their quality used to be top notch back in the 90s when I was buying their filters for old Aussie muscle cars, every unit perfect - always. Sorry man, that really sucks.
It just got crushed, no big deal. Might have happened in shipping and I don’t believe anyone purposefully allowed it to go out this way.
It’s not difficult to do with the mesh on the outside. Send them a photo and tell them you want a replacement.
Never had an issue with K&N in the US. Might be the Australia distributor/manufacturer QC.

Initially I bought it from a AU ebay store... Return the first one and the ebay store organise a replacement thought K&N USAIn the US or Australia? You realize they have a distributor in Australia?
