This is the only correct answer. Manufacturers have nothing to do with increasing prices.

Example here in the NL:
FK2 Type R 2016: 45k
FK8 Type R 2021: 65k

Base price 100% the same between the 2 models. It's all CO2 tax...
 
Inflation has the most to do with it. New government mandates, cost of manufacture, manufacture employee cost, parts costs, transportation cost, dealership markups, their employee cost etc. Everyone wanting more money and we are the end of the chain. It is, what it is. This is what happens, when money and greed are combined. Economics is a good word but it all comes down to the same thing.

Think the key word above is.... greed.

Hey ... lets be optimistic, it might come in cheaper than the outgoing model ✌
 
We all have to agree that this car still has great value for the money. It's just like smartphone brands like oneplus or xiaomi, as soon as they take over a piece of the market the price starts to go up. That's why they have the i20N now for all of the people that can't afford the i30 but still want a great car without leaving the Hyundai brand.

I'm not in a hurry because I still have a car until the summer, but Hyundai can slowly hurry up. It has been known for a year what the facelift will look like. And still it did not come to market. In the meantime, the Golf 8 has been presented and launched. I get a little impatient after all. Despite all the advance praise, I would like to know whether the car will really be that good again and whether it will be so much fun. But there aren't even test videos that really exist.

I like the review even though it doesn't give me new info. regardless i like the new pictures i haven't seen before, but why do they show pictures of the old version?
 
I also don't understand the holdup but in reality it is only a facelift. The biggest upgrade is the DCT and everything else is the same or just slightly better. Since the Veloster has the same DCT all of the reviews seem very positive.

I just want the price so I can order one ;)

My dealership claims that the facelift is still being homologated in Europe - and I have no reason to not believe them. I've heard that getting certification in the EU is such a hassle nowadays, they might as well be fighting over small details.
 
I would be particularly interested in whether the manual gearbox still has the nice misfires when shifting. Unfortunately, I totally miss that with my GTI at the moment, so I finally want to have a more emotional car again.

From what I've read, the mark 8 Golf Gti seems to be a bit of a bummer: not as nice to drive as previous ones (to many electronic gismos) and very poor interior quality (for a Golf that is).
Value for money wasn 't that good with the previous one and now it seems to have become a lot worse.
I 'd wait a little more...
