i30 N 2021 i30 N

Just saw in issue 279 of EVO they are quoting 276bhp and 307lbs ft torque I wonder if they know something we don’t or they made a mistake

No the new DCT is a wet clutch and totally different.

Thank you for clarifying it, so N-Line gets 7DCT and N gets 8DCT, both wet. I would like to have a reasoning behind this, since testing 2 completely new gearboxes has to be expensive. Any ideas?

You're welcome. I apologize and to clarify; the N-Line will be the 7 DCT dry clutch. The N gets the 8 DCT wet clutch. :)

The reason for the 8 DCT wet clutch is to handle the power /torque on the 2021 i30N. The dry unit, was just not up to par for the 2.0T Theta II engine hp/torque.

I think there is a bit of a misunderstanding here.

The DCT in the N is a new 8-speed wet clutch type, but the DCT in the N Line is still the old 7-speed dry clutch type that they've been using for years.

Hyundai will likely continue using the 7-speed dry DCT in the lower performance models since it is cheaper to manufacture and service.

Strange anomaly that I discovered regarding the DCT in the facelift N line. In LHD models it gets steering wheel paddles and auto handbrake but in RHD it gets neither. The dealer I got this info from wasn't sure if this was going to apply to the facelift N as well. I think we are already pretty sure it doesn't get auto handbrake but I would expect paddles for the DCT.

How odd. Then again, in Australia we don't get the facelifted N-Line at all - it continues with the same pre-facelift design. However, the pre-facelift N-Line in Australia gets electric handbrake and paddles.

Yep, I had a drive of demo PD.V4 a few weeks ago (in W. Aus), as I hadn't driven a DCT before and wanted to see if I would consider a DCT in lieu of a manual (yes I know the new N will get a different DCT).

Any way, as noted by Plutonus, it has paddles.

I have just come across this video -

FWIW, a few comments/thoughts.
i) I have seen infomercials which are less enthusiastic
ii) The have a number of shots of the N-Line - not sure if this questions the quality of the report or just the video footage editing
iii) At 1:21 they make reference to steering wheel and suspension tweaks
iv) At 3:20 they show the instrument panel from the N-Line, went back a bit and then noted that at 3:10 they show the analogue instruments and the audio (and text in the comments) reference the analogue instruments
v) At 5:14, reference is made to a larger turbo and intercooler - this is the first time I had seen reference to these. That is not to say that it hasn't been reported elsewhere, just the first time I recall reading/seeing it.

My N is a may 2018 one. Givin that I change cars every four years and I like my N very much I'm inclined to ordering a new one by the end of 2021.
The current N will be nearing the end of its livespan (I guess the new one will arrive somewhere in 2023) so I'm really hoping for a kind of special edition in 2022 to go out with a bang. More manufacturers do that, so come on Hyundai, go for it!

They've added a basic model page for the facelift on the Hyundai Germany website, so hopefully more information about specifications will be available soon.

I just saw the prices for the new i30N in Belgium: 37999 euro for the manual and 2000 more for the dct.
That's reasonable when you look at the competition, but quite a step up from the 31000 I paid back in 2018...

Its already out the new i30n or what? I don't have any information/news on my Spain dealership.

I just saw the prices in my Belgian carmagazine, but usually when they are in there the car can be ordered at the dealers.
