i30 N 2021 i30 N

Thanks for these tips. We all knew about the rear bumper/rego plate issue. But, this may be a good place for Nthusiasts who have already received their FL’s to let those of us who are waiting about any issues/niggles they have encountered. This will allow us to check these off when we go for our pick ups. Would be very grateful for any info please. Thanks 👊

Yes it is standard to test drive cars. I've put a deposit on the i30 N with conditions such as subject to viewing the car and driving it.

While I've been waiting for the car I've test driven a few other cars such as the Focus ST and Golf GTI and those were without any commitments, I just asked to drive it and they gave me the keys.

I want to test drive the i30 N because I really don't know how it will drive or even feel to sit in it. It is entirely possible I won't like how it drives or feels in some way and then I'll take my deposit back and walk away. I don't expect that to happen though.
I'm familiar with the concept of test drives :D It was the fact that you can spec and order a car and then test drive it after it has been delivered to the dealer, rather than a test drive of a demonstrator. Can you reject the car after it has been built and delivered? If not, what's the point of the test drive?

Yes I got it written into my contract that the sale was conditional based on the outcome of the test drive. I don't know what is "normal" but the dealer already had this car incoming so they didn't have it purpose built because of my order.

They tell me that because of covid times and low stock they are happy to reserve the car and make the sale conditional because if I decline then they have a car to immediately sell, and since stock levels are so low a car in the lot to sell is gold so they don't care if I buy it because someone else will.

Just picked up my FL PB DCT N-Light i30N (UK). Got an absolutely stonking deal at £31,700 OTR after some absolutely abysmal customer service initially...

Couldn't keep the smile of my face on the way home after picking it up! Loads of double-takes by little boy racers. And that exhaust - the car reminds me of my old blue Mk4 Golf R32. Can't wait to get out in it tomorrow for a blast.

Only weird thing so far is the ENORMOUS turning circle - hopefully I'll get used to it, but the car is phenomenal.

Just remember to keep it below 3000rpm for 600m if you can :D

I got to see my new car today, but I won't be able to test drive for 1-2 weeks because they haven't done required checks on the car and waiting for chips in the front grill or something (I didn't question it too much).

The wait continues.

Yeah, I sat in and started mine Monday! Waiting to drive the bloody thing. Fingers crossed for Saturday!

I took delivery last Thursday and yes there was black soot on exhaust outlet. Also check plastic moulding on bottom of windscreen, where pillar meets guard. Mine are not fitting together fully. Don't forget to mention to dealer about rear lower bumper escutcheon where number plate is attached. The whole escutcheon needs to be replaced.
Enjoy your new "N".

Hey mate can you tell me what the issue is with the rear lower bumper escutcheon ?? cheers

Euro spec was sent here instead of Aussie. Leaving large rego plate holes beyond where Aussies need them. All dealers are swapping them, so no need to worry. Saw 4 with the new plate at my local dealer this arvo while test driving one. Ooof, it’s a fun drive 😆

The Aussie i30 N has the European back bumper that has the fixing holes for wide European license plates.
When our plates are fitted there are square recesses either side of the plate due to our plates being narrower. Doesn't look good! Hyundai will supply a new part to be fitted by the dealer.

Ahhh lovely thanks so much for the response I did ask this very question with my dealer about getting euro plates to cover instead of standard, they said they will measure when it comes in ....... so glad to hear this is a known issue and fix available :) im eagerly awaiting my delivery
thanks again for the response really appreciate it alot

Little update to my situation, still can't order (Germany). Dealer claims because of chip shortage Hyundai is not accepting any orders.
I was at my dealer last week and he confirmed for me that it is because of the new model year. Cant order the 2021 model anymore and the 2022 model cant be ordered yet, possibly because of missing components or whatnot.

Yeah... I was looking for another car in this pricerange, but... Well sure I can get more goodies and leather and stuff from a german brand, but I'm more about the engine... So I guess I'll wait.
