i30 N 2021 i30 N

I’m in a real conundrum now, I wanted to get a new Fastback when they first announced the new i30N because I think it’s the better looking car, personally, but Hyundai Australia said it was being replaced by the i30N Sedan. Put a deposit on a hatch, got the call today my car will arrive August 17 and now Hyundai Oz say they’re bringing the Fastback down here after all, but only 500 of them. Do I stick with my Performance Blue Premium manual hatch or go the Shadow Grey manual Fastback? I need to decide quick!
I am in a similar position. I will be taking my deposit and going for the fastback, really prefer the look, a little more grown up for me!!!

No day goes past someone adminiring my Fastback. Mostly women and kids I have to be honest. Guys just keep quiet as they don't know what they are seeing. Pretty rare things where I live.

Black Badges (UK)

Has anyone found a seller for the Hatchback badges?

I have messaged someone on EBay from Germany (https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/customizedcovers/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from=) to see if he will post to the UK, as his last listing for hatchback badges would not post to the UK, but the N logos do.
If you can't find anyone in Europe that will ship to you, N Garage here in Australia will have another batch of the badge covers made by the same guy available next month and they ship internationally.

Finally, after a protracted wait, my FL premium DCT arrived at the dealer. Will hopefully test drive tomorrow. Sorting out finance etc. So don't see me taking delivery until next week.

But after months of waiting the finish line is in sight.
Hope you will be happy with it mate... It's been a long journey!

I've also got confirmation that my car is in the dealership. So hopefully a test drive in a few days and then get it not long after that. I feel a strong sense of dejavu saying that though!

It will all work out, this is a 180 degree about for me after some of the comments I have made about the process... We can all sit around over a beer at the N Festival in December and laugh about it!

Are these test drives a thing in Australia? Can you reject the car at this stage? In the UK, the car is yours and any faults will be dealt with under warranty.

Yes it is standard to test drive cars. I've put a deposit on the i30 N with conditions such as subject to viewing the car and driving it.

While I've been waiting for the car I've test driven a few other cars such as the Focus ST and Golf GTI and those were without any commitments, I just asked to drive it and they gave me the keys (after taking a picture of my licence and signing that I agree to pay for fines or damage).

I want to test drive the i30 N because I really don't know how it will drive or even feel to sit in it. It is entirely possible I won't like how it drives or feels in some way and then I'll take my deposit back and walk away. I don't expect that to happen though.

I did notice that the exhaust has allot of black substance around the exhaust tips, hoping this is not some dumb arse rining its neck.

Don't stress man, those tips black up real quick. Trust me, I've been cleaning the bloody things almost every weekend for more than two and a half years and it's lucky to get a good squirt and more than 40 km a day during the week.

I took delivery last Thursday and yes there was black soot on exhaust outlet. Also check plastic moulding on bottom of windscreen, where pillar meets guard. Mine are not fitting together fully. Don't forget to mention to dealer about rear lower bumper escutcheon where number plate is attached. The whole escutcheon needs to be replaced.
Enjoy your new "N".

Thanks for these tips. We all knew about the rear bumper/rego plate issue. But, this may be a good place for Nthusiasts who have already received their FL’s to let those of us who are waiting about any issues/niggles they have encountered. This will allow us to check these off when we go for our pick ups. Would be very grateful for any info please. Thanks 👊
