i30 N 2021 i30 N

Wonder what they will do to fit plates? Ironically I wish they had left the camera where it was as I have noticed more water droplets on the new one

Yes the Walter droplets are stupidly higher than on the old one i think (only having reference to an old i30)

So I took delivery of my i30 N 8DCT last week, on Monday, and already did 2300+ KM with it on various roads, including Polish motorways and Autobahns. It's definitely *not* a great car for the city; as others mentioned, the turning circle is horrible, and doing U-Turns usually included reversing for me as I'm super anxious about the beautiful rims the car has >.>

But! It's such a fun car to drive around, I just can't keep myself from taking it on night drives around the city and suburbs. The exhaust is super loud, especially the pops and bangs; I have no real comparison to the pre-facelift, but it was amazing to hear it with the windows rolled down in a tunnel! So far, every single kilometer driven in it was thrilling. On Autobahn, I managed to squeeze 257 km/h in N mode, and I felt it could do even more, but I won't lie - it was pretty scary to go any faster!

One major thing I have noticed is that the AC turns off and the hot air flow is turned on when you really push the pedal to the metal on N mode. Anyone noticed the same thing or is my N a weird one? Another thing which I'm not used to is the car keeping 10 l of fuel (1/5th of the gas tank!) as reserve; it did come handy when I had a bit too much fun with the N mode on Autobahn and ate through half of the reserve, though 😅

I'm gonna create a Sunset Red thread as soon as I manage to take the car out to a nice photo spot, for now enjoy this less-than-perfect shot of it being fueled up for the first time!

It must be that, the ECU turns off A/C compressor to max out power to the transmission which makes sense in N mode!

For me, it's near instant heat wave right after you push the pedal to the metal on N mode, you can't really miss it. If you haven't noticed it, it might be just my car's thing. Try it next time, and I'll ask my local dealership - because I sure as hell didn't see anything about it in the manual.

Meanwhile, maybe you can check if A/C light turns off when you hammer it, if you can do it safely.

I will :)

But actually everything over 220 is a bit risky on Autobahn with so Many middle lane sleepers around... Already gets on my nerve

Only Thing i noticed is that if you hear music the Sound vibrates(mostly the Bass) when driving over 220/30

Are there other reasons other than the turning circle that this car is '*not* a great car for the city'?

I called HMCA Monday, asked about the timings on delivery to dealers (Victoria), was told to expect a call back within two days. Called again yesterday having not received said call, was told that my request was being "escalated", what ever that means.

Really disappointed with Hyundai to be honest, I remember when I bought my Holden Astra in 2002, it was built to order and was delivered to me in about 8 weeks (built in Europe).

The other issue for me is wishing to take ownership as close to the start of the financial year as possible for tax purposes, and yet the wait continues...

I can somehow confirm that, didn't actually thought about AC going off but I can 100% confirm that when in N and pressing the pedal to the metal, I can feel instant heat close to my legs.

jesus thats a stunningly beautiful car mate. and the air con is normal my SS and my senator do it as well

The first shipment arrived in Australia more than three weeks ago now and stopped at each major city. There are about 300 cars sitting at the docks, including mine.

And mine! And excluding demo cars, a sh*tload more disgruntled Hyundai customers’ cars. It’s piss poor.
My dealer gave me a callback yesterday after I unloaded on the sales lady. I was clear to both that my beef wasn’t with them. But I did ask what the dealers are doing to kick off at HMCA. I feel sorry for the guys at the dealers as they know eff all either. HMCA just need to at least give the dealers some honesty so that we can know what’s going on. Just seems like a bunch of arrogant w@angers in suits who don’t realise that they’ve actually entered a new market that they need to satisfy. We’re not the ones buying the new Palisade (which actually looks pretty decent for a Hyundai). We’re the ones that would’ve bought a Golf GTi, a Focus ST, Megane RS etc before the latest i30n came along. Just tell me why I have to wait for my car that I can see from the road at Port Melbourne.
I think I need to pop a few Valium to chill out 😂

That's not the dealer, that's Hyundai Motor Company Australia, but correct, shit customer service!

That's all I want. Also a date for the delivery or even a rough indication. Days? Weeks? A month?

I'm hearing mixed reports varying from them being released this weekend to the car potentially being delayed until August. It's doing my head in. I know it's a first-world problem, but I just want to get excited!

Someone I work with told me it’s got something do with the rear bumper being in Euro spec, so it’s not the right fit for Aussie number plates, whether that’s it though I have no idea? Just what I heard.. never seen such a dragged out release like this one ever lol, glad I’m not waiting for one..

I understand our communities face more pressing issues, and at the end of the day, a new car, the I30N in this case, isn't one!

But, If I delivered this level of customer service to my clients, the business I work in would close and I would face the unemployment line!

I take solace in the fact, for the next couple of days I have the opportunity to stay with a very, very good mate, enjoying a few drinks (as some have a four day weekend coming up) and all this will fade away and be forgotten...

Until I read new post(s) and respond.

Happy FRIDAY!

:)
