i30 N 2021 i30 N

Higher price than what I expected, with DA almost 58k for the DCT Hatch in Melbourne from my dealer. Given the EV subsidies in VIC, I'm already thinking of the Tesla Model 3 for around $62k DA... I know I'll get biased responses since I'm on n-cars, but can you guys help me with how to decide between the two? I've driven the manual i30n and the pops and cracks and the driving experience is what allured me, but will I get more bang for my buck in a Model 3? Also if anyone's driven either the new 2021 i30n or Model 3, how does the sound compare in either? (wasn't impressed with sound system in the manual i30n 2018).

I've only owned one car my entire life, which is my DC5 integra - which has lasted me the last 12 years - frugal lifestyle but enjoyed every moment of the car, however car got rear-ended few months back, and it's totally written off. Need a new car and eyes were on i30n 2021 DCT, but would have thought at most 50k DA. Any comments guys?

Apparently if you shop around you are able to find better deals than what you've stated, I'm yet to ink a contract, but I wont be going south of $55k DA, if it is, then I will chat if my other client from Ford regarding the upcoming Focus ST-3 due later this year. I live in the country, so fully electric option is not suitable, apart from which the cost of installing a charging point in the garage would push the price well beyond $62K!

In regards to quality, don't expect anything special from Tesla,. All reports I've read mention quality is not what it should be.

I can say that sound system is really good. I can't rate it on the scale from 1 to 10 because I never tried the "best ones"
Btw exhaust is my music and you will never get bored because new one makes way more sounds than pre facelift ๐Ÿ˜Ž

I can't comment on the i30 N DCT just yet, since I'm still waiting on delivery, but I do have over three years experience with the i30 SR (PD1 generation) and have borrowed a Tesla Model 3 for a few weekends.

I was also torn between the i30 N DCT and Model 3 SR+, since they are quite close in price (especially with ongoing costs considered) and performance, albeit having completely different powertrains.

The Model 3 is definitely a great car with some very cool tech, and it's about as fast to 0-100km/h as the i30 N DCT. That said, it's a bit... sterile, IMO.

The lack of an exhaust note and a gearbox makes the driving experience a bit one dimensional. It handles fairly well, but it also feels a bit heavy and not very dynamic. After the third weekend driving it, the novelty had started wearing off for me. Don't get me wrong - the linear acceleration is a thrill. However, it almost feels too smooth, refined, and plain, and it lacks the playful and raucous "rough around the edges" feel you get from a petrol hot hatch.

The interior is very minimalist and borderline austere, save for the big screen (which is responsive and quite functional, but can be a bit fiddly and distracting in some ways). The sound is decent enough (I'm hardly an audiophile, though), but you need to spend a fair bit more to get the LR or P if you want the top-end sound system.

In terms of build quality, I definitely feel like my Hyundai is a bit more tightly built than the Tesla. Even the sound of shutting the door on a Tesla is a bit "tinny" (although that's probably partly due to the frameless design). It's still decent overall, though. No way near as awful as horror stories would suggest, especially now that the Australian (and European?) cars are made in Shanghai.

I definitely recommend taking both cars on extended or multiple test drives if you can. Get a feel of what the cars are like to live with. I also wouldn't pay $58k DA for the i30 N. That's grossly overpriced, regardless of what some dealers and Hyundai representatives try to convince you.

Compared to the OPF pre facelift or the version before OPF? I can't wait to hear the sound on my car this week but I keep seeing members stating that the i30N DCT is louder than the predecessor and I'm literally intrigued about how can that be true with the OPF?

i'm in the middle of running in the car but here you can appreciate the sound at 3000 with opf suppressor.

Iโ€™ve got a shadow grey manual hatch with n light seats just not sure when Iโ€™m going to get it yet. The wait is killing me lol

So I drove almost 1500 km in 2 days.

Was already stopped by German police when I went to get some fuel at a gas station outside the Autobahn. Asked me if I made any modifications to the car and that they want to measure my exhaust.
Told them that I've just picked it up the day before and that it has only 600km.

I turned on the car and had to rev it to 3750 rpm. The good thing is that it was in Normal mode when it turned on so I wasn't expecting any abnormal dB measures.

Also was the first time that I've read the cars papers and to my surprise it shows that the official exhaust measure is 97 dB.

Made my day.

The car turns a lot of heads here in Croatia. It drives fantastic. The lights are great. Everyone praises the N seats comfort.

I'm fully in love with this car.

Everything is just like I wanted it to be.

If you are in doubt, go with i30N, you won't regret it.

When I finally receive my new N, I think I will set the exhaust to quite. I just don't wont to give the Police another reason to fill my state coffers...

๐Ÿš— ๐Ÿš“ :(
