Tuning JB4 Installation

@GenG70
There are skeptics everywhere, it doesn't mean they're right. Glad you stepped up and posted it again.
Is this a direct plug in without modification? If it works, it works!!:)

Yep. The first one was just the extension. I bought it and just posi-tapped the extension after he confirmed based on my picture that it was the same connector as the v6. It was 12" long. Then I asked the seller to make it shorter for the Veloster people since it is FWD and easy to reach. So he made a shorter one for you guys.
Then he revised it with a pre-tapped version and also sent me a 9" pre-tapped version for helping him out with the information about the connector and pinout!
He's also the supplier for the Stinger guy who was selling them to the other people on the Stinger forum for the 3.3t.

one more update in case someone in the future reads through these while doing their installation:
don't install it where I did in the pics, it will get jammed under your windshield wiper arms

I used a large velcro pad and stuck it to the top of the fusebox, all good now!

I did that too when I removed my airbox. It's probably the best place honestly. I've had it there for a few months and the velcro has held up great. I might update my post with that since more people will probably be replacing their intake now.

edit: I updated it and added a new picture of where I put it on the fuse box.

Thanks for the pics Jigbits, can anyone post their fuel bias settings and any other settings they have changed on the custom screen? Thank you so much in advance! Trying to figure out the ideal settings :)

how is your map setup? what modifications? do you have any logs?

At the time of that post, I was running JB4 alone.

Now I’m running Forge FMIC, intake, turbo inlet, bov, HDT Motorsport 3” catless downpipe.... just waiting on someone that is reputable to properly tune the ECU (in my area).

As for logs, I don’t have any handy. I’ll make sure to do some logging.

My custom map settings were kindly given to me by @1FastStagea :)

So far I’m at 18,000KM with no issues.

Hey guys I've been following this forum long before buying my 2020 Vn, and this is my very first message. I've done the Forge intercooler, a cat delete, the NGK R2556G-9 spark plugs (gapped to .023 as recommended), and just now got the Jb4 installed. Currently running on Map 2. Can anyone help me up the game with a custom tune for my basic setup? Help will be greatly appreciated guys.

Questions. I just installed my JB4 on my N and can't figure out what map to run? I have a Forge intake, BOV, Inlet Pipe, And intercooler installed on 93 octane.

So are you guys running map one and two on stock plugs and stock gaps? If not then what are you gapping the plugs to?

Initial feedback is thus. Do not even think about getting this if you won’t consider replacing the factory spark plugs. Even after regapping them to .028” and end gapping them as well, I was getting audible knock that was not being recognized as misfires on map 2 and sometimes on map 1.

Swapped to colder plugs (0.023”) last night and now starting to work on creating a custom map6.

As is well documented the Kia and Hyundai platforms are prone to spark blow out at both stock and higher than stock boost levels. At a minimum, the factory spark plug gap should be closed to 0.026".

Did regapping the NGK R2556G-9 to 0.023" help? because I've regapped mine to 0.024" and still have some slight audible knock on Map 2.

hi guys
i bought a new 2019 elantra gt n line (1.6t stock 201hp) back in feb.
i just got a K&N typhoon cold air intake kit and a bms jb4 with bluetooth setup on it.
i also ordered hks plugs and the bms pedal tuner

with the bms i keep running into issue with the map reverting to map 0 from map 2 during test runs. i have the psi settings to max at 24 and 5 over for gears 1-3
it definitely feels faster because it torque steers more and has more wheel hop at times

anyone have any ideas whats causing the map to change to 0?

thanks
ray

Just FYI This member has been MIA for quite some time.. if you’re having issues I’d suggest hitting up burger directly and seeing what they recommend. This can be accomplished by emailing their tech support or posting on n54tech.com

Okay thanks for the reply

I'm going to wait to see if the fuel adapter wire and spark plugs correct the issue

If they don't il reach out to them.. even after those items come in il still be within the return window for the jb4 if need be

Are you logging ? I’d check your fph and AFR. Other than cyngus I can’t recall anyone having issues with knock. Hell im running map 5 and hitting almost 24psi and no knock or issues so far 🤞
