After a lot of hassle for a month or so will get my Japan Racing (or JR as they are now called) JR3 wheels on tomorrow.
As for the stats:
18x9 ET40
Weight seems to be around 10.1kg
As for the price - got them real cheap for about 170eur, though real store price is higher usually.

In the past there was also a 8x19 ET45 Motec Ultralight. Seems like they really canceled them as that size isn't on the Motec's homepage anymore.

Really 18x9 ET40? Tyres then must be 245/40? You know that 18x8.5, ET45 5x114.3 with 245/40/18 already causes decent rubbing? What's your plan on modifying the fenders?

Sure hope so? But it seems I might have overdone it slightly since checking now the rims registered here seems that 8.5 is highest people go... really hope it's not that bad.
the tyres are 225/40, a bit smaller though not sure how much that would actually help.
Can't do any fender modifications on the car due to warranty and lease so that's not really an option.

Not sure how to test it out really without driving the wheels, I might be able to change them, but not if I have used them.

Compared the numbers on www.willtheyfit.com , but from what you are saying the impact might be too much.

Great looking wheel but I would seriously consider swapping them out before you fit and lose the opportunity (there is no shame in this). Like @Shadow-Flo says they will rub. @tsaifood has confirmed rub at ET45 with 8.5s.

Thanks for the info, will get to sweet-talking with the dealer to get this arranged. Have had way too many issues with them so feeling a bit shameful there, though better shamed than rubbing tires I would think.
(the 8 does not look as great as 9, but it's just not worth it with the issues)

225/40 is a complete different situation compared to 235/40 or even 245/40 as there is anywhere more free space around. You can be cautiously optimistic that the thing will fit. ;)

I would love to give it a shot, though my concern is that they will not be taking back the wheels if i actually have driven them any amount. So it is quite a gamble if it would work or not.
Though to think rationally it's not a good idea to take the chance since i am planning on using then on track as well, and there it should be in best possible shape.

Don't think so. The PS4S tire with 8.5x19 ET45 will only fit with 235/35 IF the car is not lowered (or maybe just -15mm).
I drive -35mm and it only fits with the PZero. PS4S don't work.
So I guess when you go wider tire 245/35 it won't fit even when the car is stock height.
I know @Dan_bush27 is driving 245/35 with Eibach -15mm, but he also has camber tops which help.

But with an extra half inch on the rim, isn't 245 tire necessary? Or 235 is ok if i choose micelin. I don't like tire stretching.
I am not considering any lowering springs cause i find it quite low already
 
I have a crazy idea here... Would maybe putting 18x8 et40 in front and 18x9 et40 in the back work? Both with 225/40. I would think the rubbing is less in the back, right?
@tsaifood is the rubbing with 8,5 just as bad in the back as in front?

*edit: with some amazing google skills seems that putting different rims on front and back for front wheel drive is not great idea. And i can't fit 225 tires on 9 wheels anyway, so question solved :)

Actually there’s no rubbing in the back at all since I’ve gotten the tyres. Then again I haven’t had 4 people in the car so i can’t say for sure if it will rub on a full load
Lots of other N owners have gone 18x8.5 ET45 and reported no rubbing. Mine rubs because of my 245/40 beefy medium rare burger tyres

As a OG running 245/40 R18 Bridgestone RE003s on 18*8.5" ET44 and also Yokohama AD08Rs (same size) on 18*8.5" ET55 BBS WRX Sti wheels, I can tell you BOTH those tyre and wheel combos fit with NO rubbing, one person up on the track and the road.

A 19" rim with the same offset (ET44/45) fits flush, and the tyres 245/35 R19 fit without any rubbing at all.

I went with the ET55 wheels for the track wheels and tyres to maintain the ZERO scrub radius as per the original (heavy) wheels have, and I went with the 18" for ride comfort, tyre choice and price, and to me... the handling seems superior. That combined with no axle hop after fitting a stiffer dogbone mount, and I am a happy camper.

Tsaifood is running 245/40 R19 tyres, too big for the car, they make the speedo read incorrectly, and takes the edge off the acceleration...

Nope... I’m running 245/40/18 tyres and I get rubbing
I too downgraded to 18” for ride quality and aesthetic reasons but my offset is ET44
My front fender guards rub when the suspension travels too far

So basically 235/40/18 wont rub if the ET isnt lower than 45 but 245 will...what width are your rims? 8.5 or 8?
 
Everything above 235/40 R18 on 8x18 ET45 or 235/35 R19 on 8x19 ET45 is gambling for rubbing. As shown are these sizes the limit for TüV in Germany. Spoken for „wide“ tires like a PS4S.
I think there will be many surprises when the OEM Pirellis are worn out and people change to other tire brands with their 8,5“ rims ET40.
