How To: Dashboard/Windshield Noise Fix

Did this fix. Turns out the windshield is 5mm thick. the clips are +-5.5mm wide. So I used 2 layers of shrink tube and its nice and tight now :)

The space behind the plastic cover sure is one to keep an eye on. So many leaves and crap already behind it.

I don't think that will work. The fixing points are to far from the upper side of the trim if I remenber correctly (but could be wrong).

90% of roof noise came to the sunglass older on the roof sky. I had
I isolated the piece with foam.
still some noise coming from the reinforcements bar when th raod is very crap.

I thought for a long time that the noises came from the roof on headlight before seeing this tutorial

Yes, it is hard to pinpoint a noise while driving. Good idea is to have a passenger who can put some force on the parts where the noise is coming from. In case of the windscreen noise this is not so easy
 
Afternoon all,

I’ve just booked mine into the Leeds dealership to have a look at, I’m going to leave a print out of the instructions for them to peruse. Also asked them to activate SLIF so will let you know how I get on / if they try and charge....

Fingers crossed they sort it!

Tried this fix last night with heatshrink I'm still getting rattling sadly. Will attempt a re-fit over the weekend.
 
also need to fix after 17.000km.

2017 model - zero problems so far, just the rattle :p

Yep, mine now needs sorting. The instant the weather changed to be colder......tap,tap,tap!

I need to buy a bike inner tube it seems.
 
I’ve finally got around to doing this on mine also.
If it helps, instead of marking the position of the wipers before you remove them you can use the alignment guides that Hyundai have very kindly designed into the car. The passenger wiper aligns with a mark that is moulded into the windscreen trim and the drivers side wiper points to a mark that is within the glass.

That's very observant. Impressed.
 
I’ve got this cracking noise coming from my windscreen as well, but haven’t got round to fixing it yet, only happens in cold temps, had a service the other day and thought the dealer might be able to do it for me? but nope, he told me there is a maintenance bulletin out for this problem but not for my specific VIN model?? So he said that he’s not allowed to touch it.. He was really helpful.
 
I own a 2018 Hyundai Elantra Sport. I have had the "rattle noise in dash issue" since i purchased the car new a year and a half ago. I figured i would have to tear the dash apart to find it. It sounded like it was coming from the center dash speaker area but it wasn't just on bumps, it was when stopping suddenly so i knew it wasn't the strut tower issue or the motor mount issue. It seemed to get worse in colder weather. So after months of searching Elantra forums, i find this forum and you all have the solution. My wiper/windscreen parts on the Elantra Sport are almost identical to the N ones. I pulled the wiper units and the windguard, used the pieces of tubing stretched over the clips solution, and finally no tap tap tap while driving! I appreciate this thread because i probably would've never figured it out.
