Other Veloster N Aftermarket exhaust

Likely slightly modified for hanger locations but we’ll never really know. All I do know is, $1800-2000 is more than enough for a custom turboback made locally. Could probably get a Ti setup made for not much more.

I'm getting a 3" catless downpipe w/flex section, and a 3" midpipe with 18" resonator made from T304 stainless from one of the best local shops around my area for $1700 CAD, mating it to the stock muffler to retain OEM exhaust valve functionality.

The stock muffler should have no issues with the power levels of our cars, even with a modified/upgraded turbo. The engine will pop before the muffler becomes a restriction. I believe its 2.75" ID anyways. I"m sure that removing the cat, OEM resonator and increasing the rest of the piping size will be enough to make the exhaust quite a bit louder with the valve open.

You will have no flow problems with the factory muffler. It’s a pretty open design and she will def sound healthy with the downpipe and bigger tubing.

Glad I could help ! Looking forward to hearing your new setup when it’s all finished. And Did they give you any kind of ETA ?

Right now I'm waiting for a replacement OEM downpipe to turbo gasket so the shop can use it as a template to make the flange for it since there's none currently available to purchase here. If it weren't for him needing to make a one-off flange I would've had it done already and it probably would've saved me a few bucks too... Oh well, that's the price of being the guinea pig I guess haha.

It'll probably be finished in a couple weeks. Not in a huge rush right now as its still Winter here, so I wouldn't be able to really use all the extra power anyways o_O

Not a fan of that chambered backbox design. Horrible for flow. Looks like the valve is on one of the outlet pipes (rightmost); the picture quality is not good enough to zoom in and get a really close look.

Valve is on free flowing right side. left side is more of the muffling side

Correct, as mentioned above the valve is on the right side exit pipe, and it has absolutely no baffling on that side. The right pipe exits directly out of the muffler without going anywhere else and is a solid tube with no holes, acting as if the muffler wasn't even there.

Anyone know when the N performance intake (aka the AFE Takeda cold air intake) will be available in the US? I know the AFe is now available, but dont see a way to order the N variant or find out what the price will be.

No telling! however I'll be happy to talk to Mr. Kim and see what he can find out or get! :D

The stock muffler looks just fine. Hell just upgrading the downpipe and midpipe and the exhaust is all set.

The AFE has smooth piping & the N Performance one just utilizes the stock ribbed one. As for having the AFE intake myself I can say the smooth piping DOES make a difference. Hope this helped you?

Best regards,

-Mike.

Thanks! Hold that thought for now. If I could get it locally I could use the old poker fund. 😉 Also I would assume when/IF we can ever order though the dealership then there would be zero warranty issues/questions. I know the Hyundai track assurance states a CAI is fine...but would still make me feel slightly better. Lol
If we dont hear anything for the states soon however, I will definitely reach out and see what you and Mr. Kim can get. 😁 👍

Glad to hear you are enjoying the AFE intake. Did you go for the oiled or dry filter?

I got the oiled filter. I may purchase a dry one too though. You can get them separately. I also ordered my Afe intake directly from Afe. A couple times per year they offer a 20% off too. I have the Afe intake hooked up to a Velossa Tech intake snorkle. Works so good!!!!!! I am now going to install the Forge turbo tube to it but I cannot decide to just cut the Forge silicone tube or order a new 90 degree bend 3" one? I have a stainless steel coupler and a 4" to 3" reducer to make it fit. Come on Red, I need some answers. Lol...

Best regards,

-Mike
