Found this scrolling through insta this morning and it looks like Remus has produced a exhaust for the VN. I’m curious if it’s the same one used on the i30N or if they had to customize it to fit the VN.
You will have no flow problems with the factory muffler. It’s a pretty open design and she will def sound healthy with the downpipe and bigger tubing.I'm getting a 3" catless downpipe w/flex section, and a 3" midpipe with 18" resonator made from T304 stainless from one of the best local shops around my area for $1700 CAD, mating it to the stock muffler to retain OEM exhaust valve functionality.
The stock muffler should have no issues with the power levels of our cars, even with a modified/upgraded turbo. The engine will pop before the muffler becomes a restriction. I believe its 2.75" ID anyways. I"m sure that removing the cat, OEM resonator and increasing the rest of the piping size will be enough to make the exhaust quite a bit louder with the valve open.

Glad I could help ! Looking forward to hearing your new setup when it’s all finished. And Did they give you any kind of ETA ?That's a very useful picture! Glad to hear my prediction was accurate.

Valve is on free flowing right side. left side is more of the muffling sideNot a fan of that chambered backbox design. Horrible for flow. Looks like the valve is on one of the outlet pipes (rightmost); the picture quality is not good enough to zoom in and get a really close look.

Thanks! Hold that thought for now. If I could get it locally I could use the old poker fund.No telling! however I'll be happy to talk to Mr. Kim and see what he can find out or get!![]()
Glad to hear you are enjoying the AFE intake. Did you go for the oiled or dry filter? The stock muffler looks just fine. Hell just upgrading the downpipe and midpipe and the exhaust is all set.
The AFE has smooth piping & the N Performance one just utilizes the stock ribbed one. As for having the AFE intake myself I can say the smooth piping DOES make a difference. Hope this helped you?
Best regards,
-Mike.
Thanks man! Very much appreciated. Did you get yours installed yet? I saw you order one yourself. Did you order the N model or just order it direct from aFe?Talked to Mr. Kim. They're out of stock at the moment which is not surprising. He'll let me know when he has on.![]()
