Brakes Brake Upgrade Discussion (Discs / Pads / ... )

Hi guys, I'm the owner of an i30N FL DCT and I'm currently looking to change my front braking pads.
Can you guys recommend me something? I can only find original pads, no aftermarket.
Have a read here: https://www.facebook.com/ngarageper...yNq84kTFVD1ydzCSMNSCQ7ctkfT4mwtFDWWjHr2MvuS3l

Pads are the same facelift vs pre-facelift. So there are many good options for FL owners.

I have bought ferodo DS2500. Still need to mount them but it is a known good race/daily pad.
Here they are quite "cheap" https://www.ezt-autoteile.de/bremse...pde-pd-2.0n-184/202kw-ab-bj.-2017-va-fcp5099h

@s.arhangelov How are the Brembo pads?
Also did anyone replaced the OEM discs with Brembo?

My 2nd pair of OEM pads are almost gone and most probably after the 3rd pair the discs needs to be replaced so I'm looking for options.

I think the OEM discs are fine and only the pads need an upgrade!
I had the oem discs grooved combined with Ferodo Ds2500 pads and they were great, even for daily use that i was afraid of. No sound too.

Had them on for about 10k km before they got cooked to a crisp during a spirited mountain drive. Were excellent at daily commute, but definitely not for anything more. I switched to EBC Yellowstuff and couldn't be happier. Done 20k km on them and they have been perfect for all the types of driving I do (50% city, 40% spirited, 10% very spirited). Be sure to upgrade your brake lines to braided and brake fluid to Motul R600 or R660 (I went with R660). Never felt brake fade since. If you do a lot of track days, I'd suggest going a step further and upgrade both discs and pads to a track focused setup. Heard that Ferodo 2500 pads are good for track days.

But did you or someone tested them? Because I also have in general a positive view about Brembo products, but apparently for the N they aren't quite the best.
In general the discs of most aftermarket companies are fine. That includes Brembo as well as Zimmermann or Tarox. The pads are the issue depending on how you want to use your car.

Most OEM-like pads are aggressive to the disc even when they are cold which is a good thing during daily usage. But when you are on track pads that are too aggressive will get to hot too quickly and brake fading is the result.

The nexd pads are engineered to work when they are still cold but are not too aggressive so they can also work on a track.

I have not yet tested the nexd combination but I have a few buddies who are in the middle of doing exactly that.

I've just received Godspeed discs with Ferodo DS2500s front and rear (mk3/pre facelift) along with braded lines. Will report back on how they are when fitted

My feedback on the Ferodo DS2500:

Pro's: when warm they bite aggressively and they don't fade on track. Very impressive on track!

Cons:
cold bite is a bit scary sometimes. But this goes away after about 3 times braking.
a bit squeaky on low speeds but nothing too horrible. This gives a bit of a racecar feeling

Dust seems to be comparable to OEM.

Overall very pleased with this brakepad since it is exactly what I was looking for :)

Had DS2500s on my previous car (corsa vxr) and they were great so no worries there, fantastic pads 😊 My only unknown is the discs, just praying they're good haha, seem extremely popular in the impreza and Evo communities so hoping that means they are good

Hi I'm want to get aftermarket discs for my 2019 fastback any good aftermarket discs
I saw a couple of options like the brembo and ebc.
Does anyone here have an opinion on them?
