Why would anyone buy the used car over the new one at the same price? Unless, of course, as we all know, the manual is a better proposition than the DCT.

What are people being told for timescales on factory orders at the moment, especially in the UK?
What Apr? Also over 5 years I take it?
Your figures quoted don't seem to bring out a payment of £400 pm

Forgive me, I did. To clarify I have personally had to contribute nothing towards the upgrade to the new model.
I finally got a chance to test drive the new FL DCT premium that I had my name against this morning. The car is brilliant in all aspects, apart from the N Light seats. After a 30 minute drive I started to find the lower seat bolsters digging into my thick thighs, not sufficient enough to cause both legs to go numb, but to be uncomfortable.
So, I'm typing this out, giving much thought to next steps. I cant see it getting better with time, and I don't wont to buy a car were the seat in which I will spend allot of time in, gives me the shits. I'm sure if the FL still offered the old style electric seats I wouldn't currently be typing this.
I have though maybe a cushion under the drives seat may help, but no. If I'm parting with this much cash its got to be comfortable. After 7 months of waiting, to discover this, I'm not happy.

After all the issues, its a real shame you've had this experience. I havent yet tested the FL version (honestly, I've zero intention to do so), but I do know that my PDe.3 i30N with the original heavy leather seats is comfortable. I drove from MEL to ADL with 3 rest stops and no issues.
Without steering you away from the FL car, you do need to be reasonably comfortable in the car and it has to be enough that you can drive long distances without worrying about things. Might be worth checking out the Focus ST and other cars.
Just disappointed to be honest, I'm not happy about the situation. If they had just left well enough alone.
The only other possibility is the Kona N, which will use the comfort seats. Otherwise, my journey is at an end for every owning a hot hatch. I don't like Fords, even though the Focus ST-3 was a possible option and the Golf GTI, naaah. So, I need to discuss what's next with the dealer having paid $5k on it.
@Xcelr8 would you consider a base model without the N Light seats? It's still a hell of a lot of car.
You're probably different to me, but I actually prefer manual everything - gearbox, seats, key start, etc. which is the main reason why I bought a Poverty Pack (no sunroof either - didn't want the extra weight) and just less stuff to go wrong.
I'm a little dude but most of my mates are tall, super-solid and can bench press me with ease
. All of them have have found the cloth seats comfortable. I really just wanted a simple, grass-roots driver's car without all the mod-cons / luxuries though - and that's exactly what I got. Obviously a lot cheaper too, but that was just a bonus really. Thoughts? Not prepared to sacrifice a little for a car that will still give you a whole lot?

I'd actually consider trading in my car for it, since it would potentially meet my needs a little better (I'm 6ft 5, I juuusst fit in to the car and wouldn't mind a touch more space).
The dealer had a base model, which I only sat in, but although the seats in the base are not the same as the N Light the bolstering is similar. Its bloody difficult, as there aren't the cars available to drive to confirm. At this stage, I'm not willing to pay this type of coin on a car they may or may not be comfortable over a longer term of ownership. I’d never buy a car with a pano roof again after the creaks and rattles I had with my i30N, it started off really well, but as time went on it was getting worse, it’s part of the reason I started looking for a new car, yes I know some people have no problems at all with them, but it’s basically a lottery, I won’t risk it again, plus unless yr in the backseat, you don’t really see it when yr driving, it’s a waste of money really and too much can go wrong with them, by far my biggest regret was ordering the pano, I tried to get Hyundai to look at it but they were useless..
Strolled into the dealer today and they had two new FL dct’s in stock so picked myself up a sunroof model

Fair enough man, and that is such a shame 'cause it's an incredible little car. I spent the first 30 years of my life wishing I was a bigger guy, but these days I can see the advantages of being able to fit into anything. Like @LordPave said, maybe the Kona N is the car for you. The wait continues I guess...sorry man.
Also good news, the new model tracks oil temp over time. Something id been truing to figure out on the previous one.
I'm part hoping that someone figures out how to backport that display and the new functionality to the previous models. Honestly, if Hyundai offered a way for me to get that upgrade, I'd be all for paying for it.
