i30 N 2021 i30 N

I'm part hoping that someone figures out how to backport that display and the new functionality to the previous models. Honestly, if Hyundai offered a way for me to get that upgrade, I'd be all for paying for it.
Considering the support updates we are getting on the first gen i wouldnt be surprised to see it.

I didn't get in contact with the dealer myself after ordering. They did email themselves a few times though.

After around 2 weeks, they emailed me to say the estimated date is 8th September, then when it got to about 5 weeks I received an email saying it's been brought forward to 16th August. Then all of a sudden, two weeks ago I received a phone call saying your car has arrived at our dealership today. They were just as surprised as I was lol. Good news though. I could have picked it up a week earlier so 9 weeks in total, but couldn't get time off work.

If that is anything to go by then hopefully you guys should receive your cars within a similar timeframe.

Ahh that's promising 😁

I didn't hear anything from them for 5 weeks which I why I decided to give them a call and was told about the issue with the ordering system. Hoping I get mine in a similar timeframe, but not sure how much of a delay the issue with the system is going to cause.

I've tried one the other day and you can feel the weight, in aceleration and braking... It's very stable, but not as nimble and fun as fiesta ST.

What is with this forum and people finding ways to crap on i30s?

“Hey look these dudes just spent 50 grand on a car they like! Best shit on them by trying to connect its 1 downside to a unrelated class of cars strength.. “
- your brain

Also as i just tracked the previous i30n manual on ar1s before picking this up and its weight diference through the butt dyno is minor at best, the new one may even feel a little stickier in lateral gs. But that could be placebo, i wont stand by that claim and throw it at strangers til i test it on track.

That’s exactly why I’ve now got one, and I’m having way more fun, if I ever do buy another Hyundai tho it’ll be the much lighter i20N..

I don't think he was really trying to crap on the the i30N, just agreeing with you that she's a pretty hefty lass. We're going to get people picking on certain aspects of the car from time to time, but these are just observations and opinions at the end of the day. And people will continue to compare apples to oranges.

Sure, the Fiesta is in a different class but it is still a performance hatch. For some time I've actually enjoyed the weight of the i30N because it feels so bloody planted. I feel like a change now and want something lighter. I won't get an i20N due to the lack of support from the dealer in this town and Hyundai Customer Care so the choice for me is obvious. And this is not me crapping on the car or the manufacturer, just the idiots who you deal with after buying it, and even that is just my experience. I still intend on test-driving both the i30N and i20N because I know they'll be great, I'm a masochist and need to know what I'm missing out on 🤣

I heard there was a secret chord that my future N played, and it pleased the lord
but you don't really care for exhaust sound, do you?

Hey I'm not trying to crap the I30N, in fact I think is the most fun FWD "Big hot hatch"!

I've tried the 280HP manual, and it's very fast, has an awesome chasis, with the best exhaust on the market.

But I can only compare with my Z4 and the cars I've tried.

I'm very used to RWD, thus enjoying powerslides in bends, thats why I tried the M140i (was brutal fast but quite numb, and lacks an LSD), and the fiesta st is not even close fast as the I30N but it's it's just more lose, more fun to trow it... But in a long journey I would chose the I30N obviously.

I'm still searching the most fun car for the road, to keep it forever (before electrics kick's in...)

The GR86 could be the answer, but I want to try a turbo car, maybe a GR corolla who knows... 😄

A Stage 1 Fiesta ST (250hp, 390Nm) makes up for the speed difference between the i30N and itself yet maintains all the excellences of the MK8 Fiesta ST. I absolutely loved mine, and I'd still have it if I could.

If you solely want fun on a country road, the Fiesta ST is perfect. It's light, nimble and fast enough. It performs excellent on track although the brakes need to be upgraded really (I boiled my fluid...). It performs great for driving on a motorway too. It is a little on the firm side but nothing that bothered me. Comfortable, 2 cylinders on motorway driving for better fuel, Android Auto/Apple CarPlay for all your in-cabin entertainment needs.

If you need more space though (ie your wife surprises you one day by saying "Oh hey, I'm pregnant") then i30N or Focus ST is the way to go, but they're both obviously heavier then the Fiesta so you lose some of that excellent chassis feel. It's just the way it is.

Miss my M140 for the engine only. Handling was shite and it felt like a boat at high speeds. Needed lowering and spacers on to improve it a bit but really needs a lot more than that to fix it's average chassis.

Yeah, some times we care more about straightline performance and drag races, but on the real world always chasis > engine. Thats why the gt86 is so fun even is so slow.

And yeah I love my Z4, but I need more practicality and want a more spicy one.

I imagine the fiesta st will have a resyling soon as well, but I will test another I30N with more miles (cause the one I tried was brand new and I could't even reach the full potential...)

It's a certainty. Someone who works for Ford was teasing some info on the owners FB group. Digital dials and new "Ford Performance" seats from what I remember. Dropping the recaros

I can reassure you it is coming (soon).
I live near to Fords proving ground in Lommel and we're used to seeing heavily camouflaged cars on the roads here, doing real live road tests.
As it happens, I was waiting at the trafficlights saturday and suddenly a camouflaged Fiesta stopped alongside me, clearly an St. I myself was in my other car (Opel Combo with 75 hp) so no chance of doing a sprint😉.
I had the same encouter with the Puma St at the beginning of 2020 and it took them another half year to launch it, so I think the Fiesta will be launched around the second quarter of 2022.

And f.y.i (but really going off topic now), the Fiesta St was accompanied by a Focus Clipper (no St) with camouflaged front and backlights, so a facelift for the Focus must be coming up to.

I had a new 2016 Fiesta ST-3, got my money back in less than 30 days - cars paintwork was awful from the factory & was needing a respray to make good.. Performance was ok but the Recaros were just too small for me..

Bought a Renault Megane RS275 Nav (with cup chassis) & that was such a nice car & only sold it as I was offered more than what I bought it for after a year & half of owning it.

Would have kept the Megane but wifes car at the time still had too much finance on it to get rid & as she got a company car, 3 cars don't fit on a 2 car driveway so the Meg was sold to keep her car but soon as it was paid off I traded it in to get the 2019 i30N..

I'm not sure I'd trade it in against the new 2021 'N' even when my car is in positive value at the minute as the extra money the facelift 'N' costs, I just don't see that value - it's now getting closer to S3 money.. Heck the new i20N costs more than I got my i30n for..

Prices now are crazy and this is a new normal. 2025 will be the first cutoff date for some manufacturers for ICE engines. Don't expect anything to get cheaper. I30N is still the cheapest option on the market and I would swap it for DCT version anytime. Its just like buying a different and better car for a little bit more money.

BTW How was your Megane? Was it the current model? Do you like i30N more over it?

the price for the facelift is cheaper where i am than with the original i30n came out.. and the i20n is 35 grand, 20 grand cheaper than a sunroof dct i30n..

35 grand for the performance that i20n puts out is crazy good money. the cheapest second hand i30n from 2018 in my country at the moment is 35 grand..

Was a Mk3 Megane so the last softer shape - Honestly, fit & finish was better in it than the i30N (older tech wise eg no android auto etc. not that I use it anyway), handling was also very good with the LSD (also had sticky as feck tyres & a superior front suspension system) & were about equal in power - i30N wins in the pops & bang category by a mile 😄

The facelift i30N over here is about £8-10K dearer now than it was for the pre-facelift.. Most new i30N's were around £25k when I got mine, the new ones are about £32-34k.. A new i20N is about £24k..
