PCP / Lease / HP??

Cheers Dan.

I’ve never purchased a car that’s just getting released so this is new to me. Just looking forward to signing on the dotted line.

On a slight side note, I noticed some comments about personal leases and excess mileage worries. My current car is 3.5 years into a 4 year lease. Contracted mileage was 26000 and I’m presently at 25500. My quote for handing the car back is £435 plus the excess mileage cost at 40p per mile (pro rata) which is around 3000 miles over = £120.

The car is immaculate and I was worried about ending a lease early but that quote is really decent. As I said before though, one issue is no car to barter with for my new i30N!
Agreed re excess mileage. 40p per mile seems quite a lot thought.. I'm sure my lease is 7p per mile so around £70 per 1000 miles.

New member here. Looking forward now to some good discussion.

I gave my local dealer a ball park £350 per month figure and he stated that he thought that was doable - with £1000 deposit.

I’m coming out of a 4 year personal lease for a Kia Pro Ceed GT so don’t have a car to trade in (that Car will just be handed bac).

FYI - he’s expecting to be able to put a deal together this week. Will keep you informed

Thanks for the info. Please do keep us updated. I think the date quoted here was 29th for deals. £350 a month with £1000 deposit is ok but not great compared to the deals quoted on here for the m135i/m140i. I think it would have to be nearer £300 to be a success. But personally I'd consider paying the extra as the car ticks many boxes for me.

Similar here, my current lease is 7p per mile extra.

Just seen a pretty mega deal for the 5 door M140i Shadow Edition. Comes with lots of kit including Pro Nav and Auto.

0 deposit
0%
£359 pcm. 48 months.

I keep telling myself how much fun the N was and how I was always left flat with the M Lite.
But it was a great daily and a whole lot of car for the money!

If you’re after an M lite speak to TRL (Tony Lewis) the 0% APR is funded by the dealer and is normally on stock cars only.

Really don’t think you can beat an M140i as a daily. There is a spate of them getting nicked at the minute though.

Just been a drive in the N, brilliant car really impressed with how it drove.

However...

I asked the dealer to run a rough quote on PCP as follows

2K Deposit
48 Months
15000 miles a year

The result.. An eye watering £482.68 a month.
GFV - Quoted at, £7487
If this is going to be the case I cannot see how they will compete with BMW and VW when I can pick up a Golf R for 420 a month on a lease fully maintained.

Wow, they will not sell many with finance figures like that, hopefully on the 29th when the official finance figures are released the GFV will be adjusted.

My dealer said they are expecting GFV to be adjusted to around the 13k figure at the moment once launch comes round

Yikes, I’m out if it’s that ball park.

Sorry, it’s a £28k Hyundai not a £45k BMW.

That GFV look loooooooooowwwwwww.

My GFV on a Kia Pro Ceed GT at 23995 is 9k.

I’m suddenly getting nervous and pessimistic about this potential purchase...

Using a PCP calculator, with a £1500 deposit that would take monthly payments to £360 with 10,000 pa and assuming an apr of 4.9% over 4 years which is looking more competitive but nowhere near the Golf R and M140i deals.

It’s not a Golf or a BMW M140 though...

This is Hyundai’s first real venture into performance cars.

If you do not like the price, go buy a common as muck M140 or Golf R and be with the rest of the sheep!

I thought this was the N cars forum? All I’m seeing is BMW this VW that... both well established brands with heaps of experience in the performance car sector so of course their deals will be cheaper!

I think a lot people at looking at lease rather then PCP as well, which should be cheaper?

For Hyundai to make the N brand work they have to tempt people out of the usual players from Ford, VAG and BMW and to do that they need to make a finance deal which is competitive, they have done a great job we the car and the on the road price. A lot of people who will come onto this forum will already have owned or driving a hot hatch hence that’s what people will talk about until there is a flood of people ordering/ collecting their N car.

For the last 15 years I have driven hot hatches and sports cars and I am really excited by the N which speaks volumes for what Hyundai have produced.

Oh and I currently own a ‘common as muck’ M135i and I’m looking for something a bit more involving.

Further update from my local Hyundai dealer - he's now not expecting anything in terms of residual value for figures/deals etc until next week (i.e. start of the new financial quarter). Not great comms in general is it, and lots of mixed messages.

I mentioned about some guys on here hearing the 29th as the date when we can look at cost per month but he's pretty sure now it'll be next week.

Many different experiences/info from many different people, isn't it?

I've been following the N for months and have been genuinely excited that something different was going to be available in the market. I currently have a common as muck BMW and absolutely hate it.

Whilst it looks cheap on paper at £28k the reality is that in order to be successful they will need to compete against, seat (Cupra), Honda, volkswagen, Ford and BMW in an already contested hot hatch market.

The figures quoted to me are quite frankly mind boggling however I am hoping things will change come next week although not confident, I could unfortunately end up opting for a Golf Gti PP down to the fact it's more affordable than a car that's supposedly "cheaper". But hey let's wait and see, fingers crossed for next week!

Yep I was told 29th by a dealer too. Also heard that there would be special deal on first few but no more info. Interesting that Drive the Deal were offering a discount of £3,734 for performance version.
