Short german Tutorial about How to install the bonnet lifters. Thats the way I've done it, there are a few other different ways to do that..

.

Great video, thanks!!!

Any chance you could share with us where you got your struts from?
What vehicle were they designed for? Including Year?
Did the fittings that came with the struts require any modification, or did they fit out of the box?
Did you need any other fittings to make it work?

(If you gave me all these answers in the video, I am sorry! This computer has no speakers, so it was silent video for me...)

Anything that can assist me in finding 2 struts that fit and work would be greatly appreciated..

I dont know if there are some answers in the description, also the spoken language is only german :D

My struts are Imported from the United states, because they have had some for ~30-40$ - Worth it.
They are Designed for the I30 FD (aftermarket lifter for the bonnet) and I think they could be nearly the same as the others linked in the lifter thread @BadShadd posted (Nippon supply I think)
They fit out of the box, but could be 1cm longer (wider bonnet opening) . Total length is 43cm so definetly okay to work with.
There was no other modification except of the mounting bracket (not included in my Set) and 2 other small mounts (also not included in my Set but 2€ on eBay for both) most of the aftermarket lifter for the i30FD include the mounts, so it should fit. A friend did this with the Nippon supply ones but had shortened them a bit.
And yes, the mounting brackets are handmade :D nothing than a bracket with 2 holes, so I think an easy diy Job :)

How do they affect the sound (if at all?)
You do not hear a real difference. I think the noise at idle has changed a bit. The original Tips have absorbers in (these little Cuts). Maybe the things I noticed are because it's a bit warmer outside now. (gargeling for example)

It's simply an upgrade for your eyes, because my OEM Tips look dirty and Kind of rusty if you know what I mean.

BTW, don't be scared, this one is really dirty. Also the "Rust" can be cleaned easily. But I don't like it.

The original tips look like they're designed to be hard to clean and stay dirty....which I'm not a fan of

Nice shoulder pad´s.

Was searching for some nice ones buit couldn´t find any that I liked.

Any change you could tell me where to get some custom made like yours?

I need to measure the original tips soon.

I like the look of the ones you just installed on your N.
The Brushed Steel and the angular cut-off at the End looks really nice. Just like the Old (original) BMW Exhausts on my E36 & E46 (6-Cylinder Engines only). But IMHO the 114's are a bit too much for the N. Maybe it would be more suitable on a STi, Evo or other cars with more power and performance.

Just my opinion:)

Off Topic: Guess my English was better in earlier Times o_O :D

These cars also have only a 2.0l turbo engine With 280-295hp stock :0 :D they are also available in 102, but I think the diffusor is designed for the oval stock tips._. So anything smaller looks a bit empty.. :D
