Wheels N-cars Rims Database

Can you take the car to the track with those alloys for a good booting roud the track or would you have to change them just wondering as to the difference in rim size taking it is 19X8 ET45 5X114 everyday road use. I dunno thats why I am asking as I have not got one clue if you can only do track racing on original spec rims is that true or an urban myth. I do nto want to invalidate my warranty. Can anyone advise.

I drive my Motec on track. No problem. Depends on your driving. If you are driving a lot on track the best setup would be to go on 18“ inch light wheels with semi slicks. So have one setup for track and one for daily.

Well I tried very hard to get the Motecs but they are no longer being made available in the UK seemingly the distributor has pulled the plug on the importation so my supplier told me and I heard that from three different alloy shops so they all cant be wrong.. So, it is either the Sparco or the Hyuandi OZ Hyper GT.

The Sparcos are nice looking and made at the same factory as those Hyper OZ alloys and I’ll save £734. If I had loads of cash I would definitely buy the Hyuandi OZ Hyper GT but £1679 is stopping me as I know after being on the car for say 9 years they will look tatty and suppose I will get back no more money than if I had purchased the Sparco as the sparco will fit more cars as the Hyuandi OZ GT is for the Hyuandi only and will fit no other car so I would be limited on the amount of people who would be interested. I know at the end of the day it will bug me I never purchased the Hyuandi OZ Hyper GT.

The Sparco is for sure my 2nd choice. It is just a matter of making my mind up will have to pull the trigger real soon.

Hiya.

I want to get some wheels specific for the track.

I want to go as wide as I can on the tyre (ideally 265 but could worst case go 255 or even 245 if it’s to much agro) as all sizes are available in the tyre I’ll use.

Ideal rim width for that is a 18x 9’ wheel. Can anyone advise me would these fit without rubbing and what’s the largest ET I can push the wheel out with?

I use Braid wheels on my race car. Benefit with braid is they can be machined to any centre bore and ET to suit the user. Would something like 48 be ideal?
Thanks J

Now, when I have the money I'll probably go with those:

Personally, I don’t really like those alloy rims as they look like all the generic rims out there to tell you the truth they are not unlike the Fox Racing rims..

Wedssport TC105N
18x8J ET43
weight: only 7,3kg!!

I always had a weak for rare Japanese parts. These wheels are discontinued and replaced by the TC105X model which is slightly heavier. I imported these myself by winning an auction on Yahoo shopping Japan. After I won the auction I had to wait 4 weeks for the wheels to arrive (including 2 weeks extra due to Belgian customs 💩 )

For tires I chose Goodyear Eagle F1 Supersport 235/40R18.
These are supposed to be lighter than the mich PS4S. Plus they where 120€ cheaper at that time. That was an easy choise :)

Overall I saved around ~5kg per corner! This has a huge impact on the driving feel of the car. It steers lighter and changes direction so much better. Less axle tramp and tons of grip! The car feels more nimble and smaller.

I printed some hubcentric centercaps with the Wedsport logo to finish things of.

Maybe in the future I will paint them flat black and lower the car by 20mm just to make it look a little better.

Micron grey is just the sexiest damn colour ever! Takes to detailing so well!
