Issues with 5th/6th gear (and 1st/2nd)

Reporting in after 600km after the change. The problem is gone, sometimes 4th to 5th it feels like it's gona do it, but still goes in 5th without a problem. Maybe i'm just too used to the issue that i think it's going to come back still. But so far it went in 5th and 6th every time and never got stuck. :D
Sounds good so far, reported the issue to my dealer as well, hoping to get it fixed soon.

Mine is a the dealer since monday to fix the issue and some smaller things.

Hope to get it back soon driving an i40 feels like driving a bus.

Found out that newer vehicles have the gearbox problem fixed from the factory(obv a sensible thing to do but just posting as an fyi)

o_Oo_O what the hell are they doing??

Don´t know. They had all parts before my appointment.
Wanted them to fix the sqeeking noise while steering and the headunit rattle too.

Hope they will call me on monday. I miss the beast.

According to the technical bulletin posted on the forum my car is outside of those that are affected due to it being a December 18 car. While I've never had any of the serious symptoms reported by some members, I have always felt that 5th and 6th are not as sweet as the rest of the box. Especially going into 5th there is a slight feeling of resistance and a clunk sensation, although no grinding or missed gears as of yet. I guess the box has a slight inherant fault that is most commonly felt on those gears. Interested to hear if anyone else has these same mild issues (normal) or whether I should be concerned.

Mine is a June build and was told my vehicle didn't need the fix either.

5th and 6th gear also holds a little more resistance for me but I think this is just the way those gears are geared. Takes a little more to engage those gears as the synchros need to spin up more because the running gear is much lower.

Car is back, gearbox fixed, at least no problems at the short ride home.

Headline rattle still there (the changed the whole headunit). Will fix it myself, as I think its the cable like mentioned in another thread hear.

Sqeaking noise while steering could not be heard (so no change here).
Had no steering noise today, so could be something temperature related (14 degrees today).

Mine is gone above 5 degrees. So its okay (for me). :)

By looking at the vin numbers on the TSB it only apply a to the LHD manual cars. But I’ve got a RHD in the uk and I seem to have the issue with 5th/6th also

What part of a VIN specifies LHD/RHD?

@Dylanfm95 I hadn’t even noticed that, I thought the 9th digit was a security code and just ignored it! But it appears to apply to everyone as RHD cars are getting this work done.

Well I’m going to give my garage a ring next week and see what they say, at first I thought it was just the gearbox was but after reading this thread I’m definitely getting it checked. To be honest I could have lived with it as only really shift into 6th maybe 2-3 times a journey

That’s exactly what the warranty is for. Hope they sort it for you
