i20N wheel compatibility

In the U.K. the law states that the tyre tread must be within the line of the fender. In reality this means that the wheels can sit outside the wheel arches by a small amount, but not much (10mm max most likely).

How are the regulation with wheels & tyres poking out from the bodywork in your location?

Where I'm from, they must be contain within the bodywork, but it hasn't stop a lot of people from doing it. 😆

Go with either 18x7.5 ET48 or 18x8 ET45 all round if you also have restriction.
The OEM tires (Pirelli P Zero) don't last long, so change them out if you have the budget for it.
You can transfer the TPMS from the OEM wheels, a lot cheaper then buying new ones.
Iv never had any issues tbh, i dont think there super strict. If there majorly poking out obviously they will take issue. But my wheels barely stick out, front go under as i run abit more camber and the rears stick by about a mm or 2

It is forbiden if it poke out very much. But I dont care. My major concern is rubbing.

okay so both are ok, either 7,5 ET48 or 8 ET45.
Now, next questions.
Is 215/40 tire compatible with 8J?
what is better/worse for suspension. Wider rims and smaller ET or vice versa?

215/40 are compatible on 8J.
As long as you're sticking to 18x7.5 or 18x8 and ET45, you don't have to worry about suspension.

Hello, I am interested in fitting Protrack One wheels, but with a 7’5x17 size they are only with 45ET. Does anyone know if it will fit without poking or rubbing?

The tyres will be 225/45

Spec wise it would be around the same if running 7.5x18 ET45 with 225/40 tyres.. no rubbing for me.

Will They Fit - show they will poke 8mm from OEM which will look flush.

If you want to drop down to 17 size wheels, I would be more worried about brake clearance. Looking at Protrack One it does note it has the greatest possible brake clearance.

Thanks for your answer!

I assume that I will have no issues, but as I wasn’t able to see any i20Ns with the wheel size I am interested in, I am afraid of having issues with the fenders or even rubbing.

Mathematically it shouldn’t give me problems, with 7, 5x17 ET45, the wheel will came out 8mm. But our car has already a thin margin to play with the ET as from factory has already a nice fitment.

Brake clearance wise, as you have said, protrack gives enough room with the inner radius and our brake calipers are not too big, so I don’t expect issues with that.

I've got a set of 18x8+45 rims on its way. Has anyone else run similar specs? Keen to know if 225/45 would fit or if I would need to stick to 215/40

Yes, stock suspension 👍. I’ve had this setup for over a year now and never experienced any issues.

So what would be the optimal width and offset for 17" in case of a tyre being 215/45? Could it be that even with the same parameters different wheels could have different success at clearing the brakes?

Does anybody know the CB of the original rims? The hub is 67.1mm, but when I rotated the wheels I noticed that the rims don't align so well with the hub. Of course by properly tightening the nuts in sequence everything should go to its place, but I'm wondering if the original rims have a slightly larger CB than the hubs (I can't measure it with my caliper...)
