i20N - Reviews, General Discussion & Info

Ok thanks _Emma.
Just one thing how do you do the update? Is it downloaded to your mobile then up loaded to the infotainment unit. I know you don't recommend doing yourself but if it's something you can do yourself I'm interested.
You have to install a program onto a computer and download the update there, transfer that to a memory stick and put that into the car. I had to sit in the car and have it running whilst it installed.

Download was 57GB to the computer. 27GB to the memory stick and about an hour sat in the car. It’s not difficult but definitely carve out a decent amount of time if you want to do it yourself.

Thanks _Emma might give that a go sometime.

Yes, sorry, I guess it wasn’t much help to you. What I should have said was that, initially it looked like the Blue link was fine but when I went into the menus a bit deeper it seemed like the Bluelink car settings were no longer linked (or synced) to the app. Anyway, I had to delete the account from the car (from the infotainment system in the car) and then reinstall/reset it. Although it looks like you are deleting your account you are actually just clearing the car settings and your account still exists. When I next got in the car the infotainment system automatically applied all the new settings I had made on the Bluelink app (on my phone). Hopefully that all makes sense and is a bit more help.
Thanks YNWaN that's a great help.
I'll have to get myself a new flash drive.
I have just recently looked at the hyundia website that shows you how it's done and it appears even a clown like me is capable of doing the job.
So when I get time I'll give it a go.
Thanks again.

It doesn’t delete anything basically reboots everything.

Mine ended up needing an update. I thought the garage had done it when it was in for service last, but no. Do not recommend doing it yourself it takes for ever 😂
That's for the link I'll be updating as soon as possible.

Sorry for been thick but thought I'd better reply to the most recent message you gave me just incase you can't find my most recent post.
Anyway to cut a long story short just to say thanks for the link I'll be updating as soon as possible looks do able.

Yeah, it’s not difficult. You don’t actually need a new flash drive, it’s just that the update software deletes anything that’s on it before it puts the update software on.

Some news that I have found in the Australian press and thought would be interesting for you as well:
Good find.
Mind you, another manual bites the dust, so at least to me, renders a potential future buy into a 'who cares' car.

This report reads more like pure speculation than anything else. I can’t see the i20N as we know it becoming a hybrid as the chassis just doesn’t have space for the electric motor and associated batteries. By the time the chassis has been adapted to take these it’s a totally different car. It might still carry the i20 name but really it would have nothing in common with the ones we own now.

it might be speculation, but I can see why they are coming to those conclusion from what Hyundai has said, and what they already have working with the i20 frame.

They have a mild hybrid i20 that has less boot space. i'd say an i20N hybrid would lose some of the boot space and the spare wheel below the boot shelf. repair kit will be the only option.

Theres already hybrid i20 with the 7speed DCT or 6sp iMT, but they better find a way to get the better 8 speed DCT in if they dont want to be flamed for it.

It'll end up more than 100KG heavier, but there wont be any light performance hatches left to compare it to.
I have more concerns that the ICE character will change, lose a bit of power and some of the rowdy pops n bangs etc because of emissions tightening. They'll still say the car has "more power" because combined KW from electric. Overall i expect the power/weight ratio to stay pretty much exactly where it is (assuming 120KG heavier and a mild hybrid adding 20kw it could reach 170kw combined and remain about the same pwr/weight).

if N mode is able to run the ICE full time with sport map and use the hybrid for a boost like n-grin on the ioniq5n then it'll still be fun.

Well that’s all fair comment and I was being more grumpy than I should have been 👍 (this shocking U.K. winter weather is getting to me). I didn’t realise there is already a hybrid i20 and given that it does seem a much more likely probability that a new N may emerge.

You really are a troll.

Hi,
Hope you’re having a good day.

It is interesting, that someone calls people names, has veiled sarcasm in other posts, yet thinks he/she is an a position to call someone a 'troll'.
But of course you are welcome to hold that opinion, but I choose not to respond in kind.

Asking someone how they are getting on with a car they seemingly loved so much, might be difficult for you to handle, but is a warranted request.

Unless you somehow enjoy casting aspersions, maybe consider the 'poster block option'. You are the person deciding to respond to posts.
Or alternatively, you are welcome to engage via personal message. Granted that might also be a difficult alternative, given that route would remove the audience.
May I take his opportunity to wish you a good rest of weekend.

Hi everyone,

Im going to test drive and hopefully buy an I20N from UK Hyundai Dealership next week. It has 11,000 ish miles, any advice on what I should look for??

Any help is appreciated.

To have change the fuel pump if it is a model a prior 2023 model. In Greece i20ns have 5 years full warranty. If the same applies to UK then no need to worry.
