i20N - Reviews, General Discussion & Info

Just out of curiousity.
Why do I see more and more new I20N's being uploaded online, but the price of slightly used ones 5k-10k km are at the same level?

It used to be the case that you'd barely find new ones for sale, but now that this seems to be over I don't get why the used cars don't drop.

I'm just curious, I already have mine :D

Factor in the on-road costs with new cars in the UK including 'optional' extras, and any warranty issues are covered for 5 years, makes s/h and low mileage purchases almost a no-brainer.

Having said that, I purchased mine new at the beginning of 2023, simply because I found a dealer who could deliver me a new one in 6 weeks (and so it was) whereas whether new or s/h at the time i20Ns were like gold dust. So the bullet was bitten to get one to replace the i30N that I had already sold for good money after 3 years+, solely so I enjoy i20N ownership sooner rather than later.

No regrets, other than P Zero's (Hyundai obviously get a good deal from Pirelli) which are painful when cold and a set of PS4's will be replacing them soon. :)

Interesting that you went from an i30N to an i20N.

How do you find the direct comparison between the two?

In short, the 130 was more a comfortable cruiser (in a good way) compared to the 120 that is much more 'raw' - its mechanical diff giving it so much grip (on warm tyres) that it makes a drive down one of your favourite winding "B' roads a full-on grin ride. Lives up to the hype voiced by the in-know Press and feed-back by owners, as we have seen on here. 😊

I'm curious to know if anyone has experience with aftermarket parts/mods and voiding of the factory warranty. Has anyone fitted any parts and subsequently been told their factory warranty is void as a result?

I did the opposite, moved from the i20N to i30N F/L, fortunately we kept the i20N also for my son ...

I would say i20N a better drivers car vs i30N ...
I think this is only in countries with strikt speedlimits a point.
In Germany, where I can use the full Potential off the i30 N Performance regulary, the i30 N Performance whould be the better choice.

The i30N Performance has also an LSD but this is adjustable. The LSD in the i20 not, I guess.

I also drive a Kona N-Line with the 1 6 TGdi engine. The engine should be the same like the one in the i20N. In my Kona it pulls 198Hp and while normal driving it works fine. But if I want to go faster then the engine is very limited.

Not just a N lover like most, Lego has a place in my heart and so I am almost finished designing a i20 N in LEGO Technic with RWD and suspension and steering… Currently waiting for a few orders of parts for it. Little details show up such as shorter wheel base, smaller wheels, lower grille, larger rear hangover etc… but it’s close to completion, as a New member, Is there any constructive criticism for the design? (It is unlikely to have a well finished interior due to lack of rigidity)

Also, due to the server being not so structurally stable, the images are “to large to upload” even after being taken on my crappy iPhone 8 so I will get back to you guys with images later

Thanks i20 owners!

I hadn’t had any issues until about 6 months ago. Mine won’t connect anymore, going to reset the whole thing again and see if I can get it working.

Thanks for getting back to me Emma I appreciate it.

Resetting the head unit works for most people (pin in the little tiny button on the screen doesn’t lose any of your data) typically it doesn’t work for me 😂. I’ve contacted bluelink@hyundai-europe.com and hopefully they’ll be able to fix it. I’m not paying the dealer £150 to ‘investigate it’.

Thanks Emma I have heard something about using a small pin to stick in the tinny hole on the infotainment unit might give it a go. If I find the courage.
Not knowing what will happen when I do and stuff.

I’ve just had to set up my Bluelink again because my ECU was replaced (I’ve no idea why that messed up the Bluelink). I’ve done it now but, despite the fact Bluelink recognised my account, it was quite a bit of messing about!

It doesn’t delete anything basically reboots everything.

Mine ended up needing an update. I thought the garage had done it when it was in for service last, but no. Do not recommend doing it yourself it takes for ever 😂

Interesting to hear your experience with your blue link problem YNWaN.
Doesn’t help me of course, but I do value your input thanks.

Ok thanks _Emma.
Just one thing how do you do the update? Is it downloaded to your mobile then up loaded to the infotainment unit. I know you don't recommend doing yourself but if it's something you can do yourself I'm interested.

I’ve done a bunch of infotainment updates and it’s not difficult. You will need a USB A thumb drive with no files on it (just buy a new one). If you Google Hyundai infotainment updates you should find the dedicated Hyundai site. All you have to do is follow the simple instructions and your computer will download the update to your USB thumb drive. Then go to your car, put it in neutral, hand brake on, and start the engine. If you don’t do all that the car will think you aren’t ‘safe’ and will think there is too much drain on the battery. Anyway, then insert the USB drive into the left hand USB socket and go to setup - it will install itself but the one I did yesterday took twenty minutes (hence you want the engine running).

Yes, sorry, I guess it wasn’t much help to you. What I should have said was that, initially it looked like the Blue link was fine but when I went into the menus a bit deeper it seemed like the Bluelink car settings were no longer linked (or synced) to the app. Anyway, I had to delete the account from the car (from the infotainment system in the car) and then reinstall/reset it. Although it looks like you are deleting your account you are actually just clearing the car settings and your account still exists. When I next got in the car the infotainment system automatically applied all the new settings I had made on the Bluelink app (on my phone). Hopefully that all makes sense and is a bit more help.
