i20N fuel economy

I managed to do 6.3.L from Lisbon --> Málaga which is a 700km trip.

I spent most of my time in Cruise Control 120km/h but bear in mind that if I go the opposite way I can do much less last time I did 6.1L.

The car is pretty good with fuel economy, the problem really is if you drive around town then 7.5-8.0 will be the norm.

I checked up after posting.. 11.5L per 100km. I live near the city but also drive hard on this old abandoned road near my house too. Other forum members be getting around 8L per 100km. I must have a leak!

Is that your average mpg,or just the worst you’ve seen after a spirited drive?

Just had to go and do a conversion to mpg =24.5,which is about par for a hard driven city car…No leaks suggested .😂

Mine just keeps getting better economy as it runs in. It also feels punchier with impressive power gains.

Almost at 5,000km and these are the calculated figures for each fill up[98RON] over the last 2,500km starting with the first one.

6.8L/100km
6.86
6.74
6.73
6.55
6.47
6.41

That's 6.64L/100km or 44mpg[imp] over 2,531km[168.1L].

I'm at 13k and I have the same to report I started at 7.5L now doing 6.8-6.5L

That’s around 29.5 mpg,as an average sounds about right.
Not if you look through the posts and see how many are averaging even better than the official 41mpg.

My last tank worked out at 44mpg

For the record 8.06L/100km = 35mpg in your imperial neck of the woods. 29.2mpg is in the US with their skinny gallons.

Completely depends on the type of driving you’re doing.
me personally I always get 30mpg from my junior hot hatches,as an average.
All stop start journeys, and very little motorway miles.
On motorways I can achieve 50+ mpg but that wouldn’t be my average, not by a long chalk.

But this is one of the most common threads on the i20N - I’ve seen dozens of threads on this! In my personal experience the fuel economy ranges from mid teens to mid fifties depending on how you drive and what roads you drive on.
Absolutely, mpg can vary wildly, from sub 20s if you spank the nuts off it,to 50+ sitting at a constant motorway speed.
Either way it can be a very economical car,if you like to drive it like miss daisys grandma.

readout, my after trip info is normally 4.8-5.1 to work and 6.1-6.8 on the way home!
The readout is usually like the speedo and 5% out. 5% over for the speedo and 5% under for the fuel economy.

So 5.7L/100km readout is likely to be about 6L/100km but it's still miles below the rated average.
