Engine How To: Remove sound generator

You'll see it on the end of the exhaust tip, the left side has more heat treatment and shines much more gold, than the right side without the flap. So the left side releases generally more back pressure, if it can.

So I gave it a try, it worked pretty well. The change isn't huge but I didn't expect it to be.

Unfortunately it say passenger and rear seat warmers but its the drivers side as well...
Car didn't like it for the first little bit, exhaust valve wouldn't open but after like 30s it worked out what was wrong and just disabled the bits it needed and let the rest of the car work.

I tried this and hardly made a difference. Will look at taking sound gen out.

You either did it wrong or you're lying because taking out the fuse completely disables the sound generator... lol
Not sure why i would be lying ,so please dont presume. The heated seats didnt work and as stated through my own experience it didnt make much difference. So it well could be a different fuse i dont know.

To pull off the windscreen wipers, I red somewere: just leave them in normal position, you push a few times on the middle of the arm (push it to th windscreen, not too hard) and they will come of! Tried this and it worked really well. Car had about 20000km so wasn't new.

That's really interesting. I know we all struggled massively on first time removal. I used copper grease on the splines and it's not been a problem since. I'll try your method next time I need to remove them.šŸ‘

I've disabled mine on all 3 i20Ns i've had using the same 3 minute method -
Use a small screwdriver poked through the vent holes just above the SG and you can flick the connector off (lift tab and push at same time)
Pull up rubber trim on top of windscreen cowl and lift cowl up enough to get your hand/ finger under (prop it up with a block of wood)
Pull end of connector towards front of car and wrap in electrical/ waterproof tape (didn't bother doing this on 1st car as i didn't think it would get wet)
Push end of connector back under cowl, refit rubber, close bonnet - job done šŸ‘

So this is pretty much the same as the i30n, just thought I would chuck some photos up for it, as I have seen people ask.

This is with the coweling out. I had the most stuck windscreen wiper arms ever, and it gave a loud pop once I finally cracked it, had to get a wiper arm puller !!
Basically mark up the wiper arms so you put them back on the same splines, pop out the 4 plastic rivets (push in with allen key or whatever you can find) disconnect the wiper water hose on left, lift off the wiper arms, click up the 2 coweling pieces next to the bonnet arms, then pull out the coweling.

Then disconnect the offending article and proceed to destroy it however you see fit.

Once the aforementioned article is destroyed, go ahead and wrap up the plug. I was going to use heat shrink and fold it over but couldnt find my heatshrink bag..... So I used a small sandwich bag and wrapped it up, cable tied the bottom then tied it up to the bracket it comes off:

Then re-assemble everything in reverse order. Check you put the wiper arms back lined up with your marks.
Go for a test drive and enjoy vibration and fake sound free driving. It's then you will notice the back seat rattle which is the next fix......

This modification will add 10 HP šŸ˜†
Hi, what is the tightening torque for the front wiper arms? Thanks a lot
