So this is pretty much the same as the i30n, just thought I would chuck some photos up for it, as I have seen people ask.

This is with the coweling out. I had the most stuck windscreen wiper arms ever, and it gave a loud pop once I finally cracked it, had to get a wiper arm puller !!
Basically mark up the wiper arms so you put them back on the same splines, pop out the 4 plastic rivets (push in with allen key or whatever you can find) disconnect the wiper water hose on left, lift off the wiper arms, click up the 2 coweling pieces next to the bonnet arms, then pull out the coweling.

Then disconnect the offending article and proceed to destroy it however you see fit.

Once the aforementioned article is destroyed, go ahead and wrap up the plug. I was going to use heat shrink and fold it over but couldnt find my heatshrink bag..... So I used a small sandwich bag and wrapped it up, cable tied the bottom then tied it up to the bracket it comes off:

Then re-assemble everything in reverse order. Check you put the wiper arms back lined up with your marks.
Go for a test drive and enjoy vibration and fake sound free driving. It's then you will notice the back seat rattle which is the next fix......

This modification will add 10 HP 😆

I unplugged mine through the vent in 20 seconds as a temp measure - will do it properly when i have more time.
I'll either use a small balloon or the finger from a rubber glove taped up on the connector :)

Hopefully your wiper arms come off easier than mine. If you have trouble with them, spray WD40 in there and leave overnight. If that doesn't work you can try the hitting it with a fettler whilst trying to lever off. If that doesn't work you can try getting something underneath to lever it off but try not to damage coweling. If that doesnt work, use a wiper arm puller.

I had the same problems trying to remove the arms, I resolved it by putting the arms in the car wash position so that they are vertical, then you have a much better pull on them. None of my dedicated wiper pullers would fit. I greased the splines before replacing them.

Seems strange how they seize on when the cars are only a couple of months old - can't imagine what they and other parts will be like in a couple of years?

I'll be putting a dab of copperslip (anti seize) on the splines before refitting

I don't think they are seized on, no corrosion at all, just bloody tight, they are a taper fit, just like ball joints. With the nut removed and the wipers vertical you can rock them backwards and forwards to release the taper.

You can also remove the fuse that takes care of that!

The source of the information is the French version of the owner's manual, so I don't know if it is on the same page for everyone.

Ehh it's only the passenger, for how often I use the drivers one let alone having a passenger use it is low. Might have to investigate and see what difference this makes
Please update when you do!

So I gave it a try, it worked pretty well. The change isn't huge but I didn't expect it to be.

Unfortunately it say passenger and rear seat warmers but its the drivers side as well...
Car didn't like it for the first little bit, exhaust valve wouldn't open but after like 30s it worked out what was wrong and just disabled the bits it needed and let the rest of the car work.

To be honest I'd much sooner just take the windscreen cowl off and disconnect the ESG and two cable ties and plastic bags over the connections.

Yeah I might do that if I miss the heated seats but this is the first car I've had with working heated seats and the heated wheel still works so I might just stick with it. It's only a fuse if I get sick of it

Hi, as I'm thinking about doing the same thing, I was wondering if you got any errors on the dashboard (like check engine light or something) after removing the fuse? Thanks

no no errors or anything like that. I have since reset it and re inserted the fuse but it didnt care in the slightest.

With there being a cold snap here I wanted my heated seats back :D

Are you removing the sound generator due to the noise it can make. I’ve got some freaking/rattling at low speeds from that area and it’s my first port of call for fixing it.

First thing to check if the noises are at low speed/ revs is the small sensor cover on top of the windscreen (1 closest to driver) - a few have mentioned theirs are loose and rattle. Press on it when the noises are there to eliminate that first.

I unplugged my sound generator as i hated the fake sounds - i slid a thin allen ket (can use a screwdriver, etc) through the top of the vent through the hole and slid it off. This weekend i manage to get the connector out by removing the rubber strip on the scuttle panel, removed the 4 plastic fixings along the panel and had just enough room to slip my finger under and pull the cable through enough to wrap the end with electrical tape so it's waterproof :)

Can you hear the induction/turbo noises a little Bit more when the ESG is removed? Maybe in combination with the Pipercross Panel Filter?
