FL engine differences

Also... this is taken from a brand new DCT Fastback.. do they fit Varta batteries from farctory now?! Or was this a coincidence..

In my pre-FL had a faulty battery that only lasted 6 months. After that no problem. Only did 50.000 km though.

Something else intresting is they upgraded the steering rack too.

Pre Facelift: lock to lock: 2.57
Facelift: lock to lock: 2.14

I can only imagine the respons must be amazing on the FL!

I couldn’t believe how much sharper turn in felt on the test drive, power felt a lot more punchy than the figures suggest too. I believe people have seen nearly 300bhp stock on the dyno, that was on both manual and DCT cars.

My test drive was in a manual, DCT might feel more nose heavy?

I agree. I drove a manual pre fl for 110k kms and ordered a fl dct without a testdrive. I expected the same car, but with an automatic.
I was very surprised, because the dct fl is better in every way: suspension is just that bit softer that it needed, turn in is sharper, it´s easier to live with, more idiot proof, but must of all: it´s a lot faster...
With the manual pre fl when everything was right (not slippery and the driver can´t make the slightest mistake) I could do 6,2 sec from 0-100km/h. I managed that just a few times. With the dct I can do it in 5,3 or 5,4 seconds every time (giving it is not slippery). A second may not look like much, but it does feel like it 😁

could these changes possibly explain why my handbook claims an engine oil volume of 5.2 liters, instead of 4.8? 🤔
(handbook pictures in this thread Link)
I can confirm.
When my pre fl went for it´s first service I checked the dipstick and it was overfilled. The oil was well above the top mark.
On the invoice it said they had filled 5,2l. They sucked out the excess and every service afterwards they filled up 4,8l, wich was right at the top mark.
My FL dct went for it´s first service last week (10k kms in 3,5 months 🤭).
After I saw your post I checked the invoice: they filled 5,2l...
I checked the dipstick yesterday and the oil sits perfectly at the top mark.
So I must conclude that the Fl stores 0,4l more oil (bigger sump?) or they changed the max mark on the dipstick...

now that is interesting! Thanks for sharing! I really wonder what causes this difference, since afaik the main "cause" for different oil quantities should be the engine's discplacement - and that evidently stayed the same from PFL to FL.

Probably the real reason behind is the dealers now being able to charge us customers more for the oil change :p impressive mileage btw in just 3.5 months!!
