Don't forget that with a new car you are also bedding in the brakes and clutch, wearing in the gears, etc. It's not just about the engine.
OK, I've ordered some oil based on what's recommended in the manual (Shell Helix Ultra ECT C2/C3 0W-30). Unfortunately the filter part number is not in the manual, so I will have to take a look under the bonnet to find out what it is.
I didn't get around to doing it in the end. I figured I'll leave most mechanical work to the dealer for the sake of the warrantee. I just don't want to give them any cause for excuse when my engine blows up on the track.do you find some part number for the oil filter? I am at 600 KM after a few days, and want to change the oil myself on +-1000 KM after the break in period.![]()
Yes, I've used Opie a fair bit as well. I'll be using Fuchs titan pro race s in my i30N.Opie oils are very good.
It looks like the recommended oil is castrol 0W-30.
Anyone going to use a different brand?
I don't think that anyone would really bother. But I used the Castrol one listed in the manual, the price is reasonable and probalby much the same as the other brands.I really wouldn’t! If the engine shits it’s self laboratories can tell what make and spec of oil you have used and if it’s not as it should be then they can refuse warranty!

It should be the 26300-35504.I am also interested in the part number of the oil filter.
It should be one of these:
- 26300-35504
- 26300-21010
- 26300-35056
- 26300-35503
- 26300-35502
- 26300-21A00
- 26300-35054
- 26300-35500
- 26300-35501
- 26300-11100
What. That must be a mistake.Looks like 0w-30 isn't cheap - $1175 aud for 5 litres! only $70 postage
