First sunny and dry day for ages today, so sprayed some Devils Blood on the wheels then took the car for a car wash.

Decided afterwards to buff up the plastic trim and also do all the glass including the lights.

Can’t wait till the Spring though, that was the limit of what I could do I think.....just too cold

I clean mine once every week... Whether it needs it or not.. Cleaning is a good way of inspecting the bodywork for any defects... Stone chips... Scratches... Bird poo stains etc... and so far.. no problems.
Obsession no..... Just prefer driving a clean car to a dirty one... But don't feel the need to clean every time it gets dirty.

That’s a good shout actually. There’s no point in complaining about stone chips or more serious, if you haven’t even looked at your car’s body work in a month or longer!

And defo clean any bird poo etc as soon as noticed, as aside from looking unsightly, it can damage the paint work.

I am a keen detailer when the weather allows, and I think its important to seal the car early. Once sealed, car washes later can become a much easier task. Just a power wash once every 2 weeks would be enough.

I reapply the sealant once every 2 month on average to top it up, but usually do a big wax stripdown once before winter, once in the summer and after winter.

However, I think gradually self detailing will die out because here in the UK, there are a lot of Romanian hand car washes that charges around 5 pound sterling per wash, so don't know who is cheaper in the long run.

Wow. I believe I shall have a chat to our federal Minister for Immigration and see if we can't get some more Romanian folk to migrate here...

Wont ever happen, Allot of people want to look after their cars they just dont have the skill set, detailing a car and washing a car are very different. If a customer asked how much i charge to do a days detail and they mention they can get cheaper a car wash i just politely walk away i don't want to attract that sort of customer. Also i would love the Car wash to leave a surface like this after a wash

I agree Bigbruiseral. Guys like me will detail forever. I am not trained professionally but enjoy the time I spend researching and doing it right within my ability.

My biggest problem is the weather. Here its just too cold and wet to put any products properly on the glass and body panels. Where I live its outdoor parking without any covering.

Did my first resin and sealer job today. Used AutoGlym products for the first time. From the Shampoo & Conditioner, the Glass Cleaner, Plastic & Rubber cleaner, Wheel Cleaner and the Resin & Gloss Protection. Got them on the Black Friday offer last month. I’ve been meaning to do a clean for weeks but the weather has been terrible in South West Wales.

Taken about 6 hours to fully clean the car inside and out. 2 days of zero rain & winds so an ideal window to get the car sealed for the wetter, colder and muddy months ahead.

My arms, legs and back are killing me. Definitely did a good job haha.

Taking it to Hyundai Swansea tomorrow for its first service. While I know they’ll clean it, I prefer I do the job instead with proper cleaning stuff and detail.

u guys are crazy.. im really too lazy to put that much effort into washing, knowing it's going to be dirty in the next half hour.

so i prefer this:

What are you using to seal the skirts, and plastic parts with no paint, of the bumpers? I've read about the CarPro DLUX, is it worth it?

The weather is restrictive to say the least up here in Scotland. We have 6 hours of day ‘light’ in the winter and you look like a complete plonker washing and detailing your car in the freezing weather.

I’ve decided with this car (in the winter) to use the local car wash (which is pretty decent) and do things like the wheels and say, glass myself weather permitting. It wouldn’t be the first time, however, that I’ve created an ice rink out in the street by washing a car in Baltic conditions!!

You guys put any type of uv or paint sealant on the headlights to delay eventual hazing, or is it pointless to do so before they show signs of degradation?
