Not to twist your arm but they do them on 0% finance with zero deposit if that floats your boat!! They are practically giving them away....:eek:

I just paid 40% deposit (£50 per wheel) and stuck the rest on tick for a paltry £16 a month interest free, I'm still looking for the catch.....oh yeah, the wife doesn't know yet ;)

I know I know, I'm just not sure how they'd look on the car and I was planning on a set of Wizards or Ultralights. I'm a bit meh about the red pinstripe too. Even at £500 I'd be buying purely for the sake of it rather than actually wanting them

Still a phenomenal price though

Down to Motec Ultralights, Japan racing 18 or 3 or Bola B1's in a matt or hyper bronze colour.
 
Welp, finally decided to bite the bullet. Tyre Leader have the Autec Wizards in 19x8 ET45 for £167 per wheel, free delivery. At 9.8kg they look a great value proposition for a lightweight wheel.

Looking forward to getting them, just going to swap my PZ's onto them as they've only done 600 miles, should be here in a few days :cool:

JR and Bola are reps of other more expensive wheels, and thus their quality is pretty sub-par. Also they will be much heavier than the Ultralights (at least they were, when I was looking for my 370Z a while ago).

I'd go Motec but colour will depend on your car's colour.

Thanks for the advice, had JR's before on a previous car, loved em for build quality. Ultralights do have my head turned for weight but then I'm trying to figure out is it all worth it, car has plenty of power for me this is a cosmetic change. Never bought any sort of "performance" or lightweight alloy before so truth be told I don't know what it all feels like on the butt dyno but am curious. Currently waiting to see can my shop get the Motec to a similar spec to the standard wheel as I don't want to mess up the ET too much.
 
Lighter the better, reducing the unsprung mass actually makes quite a difference.

I've notice straight away that there is a less 'jarring' crash from bad road surfaces (i do have the dampers set to Sport though) which is a massive positive. The car just feels more nimble/lighter on its toes, so to speak!

Thanks loafer, I do understand the theory but to be it's all about the butt dyno, I'm be swayed for the lighter option as people are saying there is a noticeable difference so waiting an email back from the shop. I'm using same suspension set up as you always in sport, roads here way too rough for N and I'm dropping wheel size down to 18 to get a bit more tyre cushion.

Grassroots have done a couple of articles about the effect of weight, both unsprung and rotational. Their MX5 was around 0.4s quicker 0-60 with the lighter wheels but a lot of testing has seen negligible difference in lap times. A lot comes down to how the car feels as opposed to quantifiable differences.

You can definitely feel the difference, the car tends to feel more agile, but unless you're on the track constantly it's more about how it drives than noticeable performance differences

Day 1 I swapped to lighter wheels and that's what I got used to. Found the sport suspension setting to be the best. But recently I switched to my winter setup on the stock wheels and the ride is relatively very harsh, even in normal. While acceleration felt better it was definitely the ride that improved most.

Looks good. Did you just swap your TPMS over to the new wheels?

I've got some winter tyres ready to fit just sat in my garage as apart from a couple of days recently it's not really cold enough yet but the worst of the winter weather is usually December onwards. Mighty tempted by a set of these for the price.

Yes, everything swapped over. Literally a change of wheel, cost £10 a corner. Bargain!
