Air Filter & Intake Discussion

I emailed K & N today - response below.

I have spoken with our R&D guys and this filter is in the very early stages of development, not expected before the end of the year.

Just poking around under the bonnet yesterday and wondered, how does the air get into the airbox, where is the intake?

The intake (plastic duct from airbox) goes thru front plastic frame. There is a empty space between black top of bumper and wall, what separates cooling fan and intercooler area from the top of front bumper. The problem is that at least I wasnt able to understand how fresh air will access that area.

So Germans have been develop cold air feed duct (I bought it 3-weeks ago but still haven´t receive it). Installation of that air duct requires some cutting of that sama wall what separates intake area from cooling radiators.
This is how that duct looks like:

Thank you, the before and after pics look the same, or am I looking at the wrong part (the trunking to the right with 2 openings in the front)?
Do you know, is it the same setup on Left Hand Drive and Right Hand Drive? I assume it's identical.

There are no before and after pictures. It is the same picture but I marked those walls on to the first picture by red letters. I can´t make you before and after pictures because I still didn´t get that air duct I ordered from Germany. There is no difference on intake between LHD and RHD cars.

Does anyone changed already the engine air filter stock with something sporty ? As K&N or CDA or some other like this ?
I would like to change the air filter for put some ( more ) and better air in the engine.

Some modification in the forum ?

There is no need to replace the air filter - trust me it is good enough (it is not usual panel filter made from paper) and there will be absolutely no improvement at all. But there is one thing you can do for improving OEM intake:

No more noise - you can get more noise only if some company will develop complete cold air intake system with open filter. I have Revo CAI on my Audi S3 8P and it is LOUD
