i30 N 2021 i30 N

Im thinking about trading in my 2018 first gen. for a dct fastback next year, but I'm not very impressed with
the level of quality control, performed by the factory.
I have inspected a new dct hatch that was delivered to someone, and several of the doorway rubber sealings were
not applied propperly, showing bumps, especially the drivers one. My 2018 car is perfect on that point. Also the backseat leather? looked on one corner like a 98 year old granny, this was also the case with my 2018, but that was fixed by swapping it for a good one from another car. Are there any other new FL owners with these imperfections?
One would think that after 4 years making these cars, they should be delivered better assambled then a 2018 version.
Picture is from a new German car a found on Autoscout, witch shows the problem at the back, but I've seen it worse.

FYI dealer has said that my FL i30n ordered 22nd October is due for Uk arrival 02/01/22 currently, only the estimated date but he says they've been pretty accurate lately!

I've had my FL since the end of June and have not seen anything of concern regards build quality. seems pretty well put together to me.

Well hello there guys
I just sold my second PFL i30N hatch and ordered a new one. Scheduled delivery is on 4th of December :D

My friendly salesman was holding up one of the ordered stock cars for me for couple of months already. That is why I will received that early.

For the time beeing, I join you on the waiting bench for our cars :D

I think they come into Tilbury docks on a ship and straight to the Hyundai tech centre also in Tilbury

Yup, 3 years ago, they were being shipped form Gdansk to Tilbury :)

Can't find anything more up to date than that, but I know they still arrive in Tilbury by boat for the UK

Hi all,

I've been trying to look for the 2.0 tGdi engine power limits but can't find a good search term for it to come up. I've only seen on the forums that some people were able to get 380~bhp so far on the i30N.

Does any one know how much the stock engine can take?

Asking this since I'm currently seriously considering either purchasing
  • an Evo 8 - mainly for its appreciating collectible value, iconic chassis and 4G63 block that can handle 400Whp with stock internals. Only thing is I'm also thinking about risks involved with needing to rebuild in the future if anything does happen since it's a 20 year old car. Rebuilding could cost 20k-30k (aud) and the car could cost 40k (aud)~...That's 20k more expensive than the i30N as a worse case scenario.
  • or an i30N Sedan/Elantra N for reliability, warranty and after seeing the exhaust sound in N mode as well as Forge intake, with DCT and FWD it'll probably have similar or more amounts of fun than an Evo and the car would last at least 10 years. Only thing is if I bought brand new it would depreciate a lot more than the Evo... and I'm not sure about the aftermarket support it will have and it won't head turn as much as an Evo!
For context I take public transport to work and only drive less than 3 times a week. I also have my partners car to drive when I need it. Mileage is also not a concern for me.

Also does anyone know of any aftermarket bodykits coming out for the Elantra N? Only found this Adro Widebody kit so far

The reliable power limits of the engine itself are still unknown.

Current limitations (all Pre FL) :
- ~550 NM (with upgraded clutch, about 450NM with stock one (depending on mileage)). MTTuning in Germany is advising against running high torque (600 NM+) setups as they will break the rods sooner or later. So those seem to be one of the weaker links at least.
- ~500hp (the 2nd gear can't handle more) with bolt ons (IC, DP, FL Hybrid Turbo Upgrade) with stock ECU and without WMI. There are already multiple cars running 450hp and are daily driven that even visit the track sometimes. So far there are no news of catastrophic engine failures I have heard of.

The second figure can be taken with a grain of salt, as MTTuning recently broke into the 500hp range. There are some woes with second gear at such figures. So it can be considered the gearbox cannot handle 500hp+ for a long time.

Limitations of the engine are still unknown. There is a limit on the valves as they will begin to flutter, but the current reported figures are still too far apart to give a good image.

Mine was supposed to be arriving in the U.K. on the 14 Dec, this date then disappeared off the system, Hyundai U.K. are now telling me it will be another nine weeks.
